Hi…my name is Peanut.

I’ll just bet you haven’t seen many like ME around before! I am an 18-month-old, purebred, calico Cornish Rex Lady and just about EVERYBODY is stopping to gaze at me because I am such a rare beauty. In spite of my resemblance to Egyptian statues, my breed is not from Egypt, but rather, as the name implies, we originated in Cornwall, England, where we first appeared in a litter of barn cats born in 1950! Because of my extremely short, fine textured coat, many people have the impression that we are “hairless,” don’t shed, and thus are hypoallergenic, but this isn’t strictly true. All animals constantly renew their coats as old hairs are replaced by new ones, but certainly, by comparison to some other cats, my shedding is minimal. All that aside, my personality is such that you have to fall in love with me for that if nothing else. I am gentle, tolerant, loving, sweet, quiet and playful. I have been living with another cat and two dogs, but we haven’t gotten along very well, so everyone agrees that I should be an only child so I can have you all to myself and be the center of your universe! (The folks here at TALGV are so in love with me that they say they will only adopt me to a family in southern Arizona – just so they can keep tabs on me!)
