I was adopted last year by a young couple with two very small kids, but I turned out to be a lot more than they bargained for – energy- and attention-wise! I am a Treeing Walker Coonhound and, had my adopters checked out what the AKC has to say about my breed, they might have thought twice about taking me home! Just so YOU know what I’m like, here’s an excerpt from the AKC description: “…they are great with children … love to cuddle …love to sleep after a long day and are the perfect dogs for watching television. Generally easy to train … they make excellent pets if well exercised. Training must be consistent as Walker hounds are extremely intelligent and will take full advantage of loopholes in the training regimen. Because they are eager to please, loving, intelligent and confident, they make a splendid companion dog for an owner willing to give them proper exercise.
