Missy is one of those cats
who is determined to
live life on her own terms.

She came to us at the age
of 8 after her owner died. She wasn't fond of other cats and needed to be approached cautiously. Soon, however, we found out that her hiss was worse than her bite. Sometimes she enjoyed being petted, but other times she just wanted to be left alone. She was placed in two different homes, but neither worked out for her. It became obvious that Missy needed a special home with kind, patient people who could understand and appreciate her just as she is. After 9 long months our prayers were answered by TALGV friends and supporters, Joel Montes De La Oca and Toby Dowling. They had lost their previous cat at the age of 26 and after hearing Missy's story decided to adopt her. It was clear that this was a commitment for life. And what a wonderful life Missy has now! She has come out of her shell and has the run of a large home. She has many windows to sit in and watch birds, and she eats lots of her favorite treat, deli sliced turkey! The best story of all is the one Joel recently told. Toby was sitting in bis chair as Missy came strolling by. She jumped up onto his lap, put her paws on his chest and touched her nose to his. It was just Missy's way of saying, "I love you." (For more about Missy, watch Arizona Illustrated, on Channel 6 at 6:30 P.M, August 2.)

Volunteers Needed

How You Can Help

As TALGV grows, so does our need for volunteers. You might be surprised at the many volunteer opportunities offered at The Animal League. We need everything from dog walkers and donation sorters to budget and computer specialists. We need artists, receptionists, handymen, grant writers, waste basket emptiers, and dog and cat petters. Your special talent could open up new projects for us. Come join us at TALGV and enjoy the company of both the furry and not so furry kind. As one of our frequent visitors says, "TALGV is such a happy place to be."

The Attic Thrift Store
