Hi… my name is Canoa,

Adopted 9-17-17

Sometimes being sweet and adorable isn’t enough to keep you safe. I was found alone and vulnerable at the Canoa Ranch Rest Stop—very scared, hungry, with an injured hip, abrasions and lacerations. Wow. Was that really me? Today, I’m a happy guy enjoying comfy, carefree days. The volunteers say I am friendly, get along with other dogs, and I’m very fond of my people friends, too. My wounds have healed and although my hip isn’t perfect, I get around just fine. And through it all, I’ve continued to be sweet and adorable—a fawn-colored, 2-year-old Terrier mix male, 22 pounds, for whom the best is surely yet to come. And I’m hoping here’s where you come into my story, adding what I still need most—love forever and a happily-ever-after home with you.

Hi… my name is Anastasia,

Adopted 5-15-17

Not that I’m a betting girl, but everyone’s heard of love at first sight and I’ll wager that if you come visit me, that’s exactly what’ll happen to you! I’m a stray, so of course there’s the old “history/mystery” thing going on, but whatever it was, it included a lot of contact with humans and plenty of love and attention! And of course, we won’t even mention the beauty! Well, there, I just did – but you can’t ignore my luxurious Torbie coat (a golden mix of torti and tabby), or my “I-love-you-won’t-you be-mine” expression, so come see why we’re destined to make beautiful music together. At just 3 years old, there’s time for it to be a whole symphony!

Hi… my name is Icing (aka Vicki),

Adopted 10-22-17

I was originally adopted with another puppy, Cupcake, and we had lots of fun. Our family said I loved to snuggle, knew “sit” and “come,” and had an adorable habit of sleeping under blankets when cold. I also had things to learn, which is what I’ve been doing here—training for good manners, learning to walk well on a leash and generally how to please my person. Of note, although I lived with children in the past, these days I’m best with adults only. At 1+ years old, I’m energetic, enjoy the active life, and friends say I’m beautiful—a fawn and white Lab mix female, about 50 pounds, who could melt your heart with the hopeful look in my eyes. Will you be the one who sees what an awesome companion I’ll be?

Hi… my name is Curley,

Adopted 12-24-16

My name is funny because I’m not curly at all! I’m a smooth-coated Chihuahua, light brown compared to my brother Mo, whose coat is darker than mine, and we’re just youngsters—only 4 months old. The woman who brought us here had offered to help us find a home and TALGV was the right place for that. Lots of people visit and when they see us, they often talk about how little we are. I understand that—I’m just 6+ pounds. From my perspective, it’s a big wide world out there, so I’m sure you appreciate why I’m a little cautious. (People often call that “shy.”) But once we know each other, I’m also affectionate and very sweet, and I’m hoping that no matter what my name is, you’ll want to call me yours.

Hi… my name is Coda Cat,

Adopted July 2, 2016

When my dad lost his home, he had just a few weeks to move and could only find an apartment that allowed a single pet, so the dadgummed dog got to go (I personally think that’s “species profiling” myself!). So…all my five feline housemates and I came here where we’ve been “fixed” (that’s how he ended up with so many of us!), gotten much needed checkups to make sure we’re healthy (we are!), and now we’d all like to find places that will be ours forever. I’m a 1-year-old Siamese boy who is gentle and laid back (but still very playful at my age!), very well behaved and social, and get along with everyone. Sound like great bona fides to me, so come make me yours – time’s a-wastin’ for us both!
