Hi… my name is Kelly,

Adopted 3-10-18

Comfy shelter, regular food and water, kindness all around—the world is a far better place than I ever imagined! Before coming here, I lived under a trailer and was left there when my owners moved, but I wasn’t alone long. Angels came (disguised as people) and rescued me. They saw that I am very loving by nature, great with kids and good with other dogs. I was also good in their house when they were gone, and at 2 years of age (a 41-pound female), I’m becoming acquainted with leashes. I’m also learning that adult people can be patient and understanding, so let me tell you a secret: I now dare to dream of living in the best place ever—a loving home, happy and safe, with someone just like you to love forever.

Hi… my name is Elvis,

Adopted 3-13-18

I’d just stepped out of the desert near I-19 and Sahuarita Road, coming from a lonely place, when I spotted a man offering me a ride! Well, I know a good thing when I see it and so I jumped in that car, unafraid. My new friend kindly relieved me of some cactus needles and brought me here, where volunteers described me as a very sweet guy from the very beginning—offering friendship in my own gentle way. I’m about 2 years old, 59 pounds, and some kind of Hound—I hope you say the handsome, loveable kind. I know several commands and I’m “tuned in” to people. I’d love a visit from you, and just maybe, on my luckiest of days, you’ll enjoy being with me so much that we’ll go home together.

Hi… my name is Gorda,

Adopted 1-15-18

When my former people moved to an apartment, my buddy Chubbs and I couldn’t go along. Disappointing? Sure. But I’m just 1 year old—I can deal with the change. Besides, I’m friendly by nature (my people said they didn’t know any person or animal I didn’t get along with), so meeting someone new who could take me home and spend time with me is an opportunity I welcome! At my former home I lived outside and enjoyed sitting in my doggy pool, but moving indoors sounds real comfy. I’m getting some training here, including how to walk on a leash, and I already know how to be playful and loving. At 57 pounds, I’m probably a Hound/Lab mix, definitely a female, with a beautiful brown coat and a genuine yearning to be yours.

Hi… my name is Chubbs,

Adopted 11-17-17

When our people moved to an apartment, my pal Gorda and I couldn’t go along. But there was good news: We came here, where lots of people like me just for being a good dog. And I like them right back! Indeed, I’m always ready for your attention. If you’re busy, I also love chew toys and balls, especially the ones that squeak. My former family said I was gentle and tolerant with their 1-year-old, got along with other animals, and described me as “really kind.” And, by the way, Chubbs must have been my puppy name because now I’m 42 pounds—a very nice size for a 2-year-old Lab/Hound mix male. My coat is tan with a little white, and my sweet brown eyes tell you how much I want to be yours.

Hi… my name is Rusty,

Adopted 12-23-17

Rusty has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

“Sweet, wonderful dog.” Big life changes (job and school) resulted in my person returning me to TALGV, but not before she wrote that nice description about me, and much more: “He let my young son crawl all over him. I’ve never seen him be aggressive.” And this: “Always friendly. Loves to go on runs/walks.” She said I barked when new people came onto the property, which can be good—especially because she added that I was “never aggressive.” Plus, she said I was housebroken. (One accident during the scary part of monsoon season.) Full disclosure: I’m a 2-1/2-year-old Heeler/Hound mix male and big favorite here because I’m such a loveable guy, albeit somewhat shy at first. And for me, it’s most important what you think. How about we meet and see if we match?

Hi… my name is Dana,

Adopted 9-3-17

You’ve probably heard that even among dogs, hounds are known for their exceptional sense of smell. So, since I appear to be a hound dog mix, maybe I was found near a store because I could smell dog food in there! (Like most lost dogs, I was hungry.) My rescuer kept me for two weeks while trying to find my owner, and she said I was okay with cats, good in the house, and leash trained. Once here, I was shy at first, but always sweet and glad for the company of people. A 1-year-old female, I have an athletic build (49 pounds), enjoy exercise, look good in my short easy-care coat, and please everyone with my good and gentle nature. I hope I’ll please you, too—in the happy home we share forever.

Hi… my name is Rosie,

Adopted with Fritz 8-30-17

Rosie comes with FREE Vet Care for Life

My doggie buddy Fritz and I have shared good times and, more recently, tough times. Our dear person became very ill and so after our goodbyes, we were kindly brought here, hopefully as our stepping-stone to a new loving home. I’m 12-1/2, Fritz is 11, and although neither of us runs as fast or jumps as high as we once did, we’re both still active for our ages—playing, making new friends, giving and receiving affection. Oh, relaxing is great—we can be easily entertained and each of us is well versed in loyal companionship. I’m a sweet, tan Hound mix female, about 61 pounds, and I come with FREE Vet Care for Life! So let’s meet soon. You may be pleasantly surprised at how this “mature” dog can very quickly catch your heart.
