Animal League News

Hi… my name is Boysenberry,

Adopted with Blueberry 10-31-19

I’m one of four puppies who spent our first five months growing up in a back yard. We were fed and looked after but didn’t have much people contact. As we got bigger and were eating more, we were brought to TALGV so we could become socialized with people and find forever homes. On our first day we were so skittish that we didn’t want to be touched. We huddled together and were given our space. It has not taken long to learn that the company of people is about as good as food! We’re still cautious, but warming up. I look like a mix of Labrador and Hound, but who knows? What really matters is I’m full of potential to be just the canine companion you’re looking for!

Hi… my name is Todd,

Adopted 1-3-20

A kind person brought me to TALGV. No one knows for sure what I’ve been through, but they say I have come a long way in a month. In the past I learned to temper my curiosity with caution. A three-day retreat with some nice foster parents helped my confidence. They said the microwave and other loud things made me nervous, but I had fun exploring their house and really liked the other doggie in the mirror. They put my nice soft bed in front of the mirror and that made me feel safe. I didn’t make any messes in the house, and I really enjoyed the long walks on the leash, especially with confident doggie friends. I’m starting to relax a bit, and the treats and chin rubs are pretty nice, too. I’m looking for a special someone who will help me build my confidence. My foster parents think I would do well with a confident dog in the home to show me how things should be.

Hi… my name is Dusty,

Adopted 2-16-20

I’m an 8-year-old hound dog who’s got a cowboy name and a creampuff heart! See the pictures of me with my head resting on somebody’s arm or lap? I don’t deny my lovin’ ways! I’m not partial to small dogs, but I once lived with 6 dogs of all kinds. I’ve never been around kids, but I make friends with big people real easy, especially the dog-savvy ones. Pet me, and I melt like butter in a fry pan. Yep, I’m pretty laid back, except for two things that get me riled. I don’t take kindly to anybody or anything comin’ near my food. And if I have a pain somewhere, just don’t go touchin’ it. Truth is, I’d like to sit by your side, put my paws up, and feel grateful to be home.

Hi… my name is Shadow,

Adopted 6-25-19

Shadow has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate

(Note: Bio needs update)  I’ll gladly tell you a bit about me, but first let me give you an invitation. I love company and I’m an excellent host—friendly, a good listener, always willing to share my water bowl (although there aren’t a lot of takers on that)—so won’t you please pay me a visit? I’m a good sized guy, a Hound mix, and you may be pleasantly surprised at how courteous I can be—quietly giving you my full attention while hoping you’ll notice me. My previous people gave me up without complaint because they no longer wanted me. That hurt, but it’s in the past. In the future (I’m just a young guy, so looking forward to a great future), I’ll be someone’s devoted, loving companion forever. Could my special someone be you?

Hi… my name is Arrow,

Adopted 5-13-19

I am roughly 9 months old, possibly part Hound/Beagle/Heeler mix with beige and white coloring. Some nice folks from Elephant Head found me wandering in the desert. They took me in overnight and then brought me to The Animal League. I liked playing with their dogs. The volunteers here have taken me on outings; the park is so much fun and the cool green grass is great to roll in! My pool is cool and refreshing; I love to chase the ball even if it goes in the water! I might be young but the trainers here are teaching me some doggie rules and manners; they say I am a quick learner. Let me be the “Arrow” that shoots into your life and heart ‘cause I have lots of love and kisses to give!
