Animal League News

Hi… my name is Poppy,

Adopted 3-23-25

Here’s the first thing I learned at The Animal League:  Puppies need love. When my siblings and I arrived as six little pups without a home, TALGV volunteers made us feel loved right away by giving us food, water, and a cozy, safe place to be. We received careful, individual attention, and soon had our own collars, toys to share, and lots of volunteers for friends. These days, we’re learning things good dogs know in fun, one-on-one times volunteers call “training.” Plus, we’re becoming explorers, going for walks outside on our own leashes with a TALGV person for each of us. I’m Poppy, one of the girls, with a black and tan coat, deep brown eyes, and this big promise: If you choose to take me home, I’m ready to love you back forever.

Hi… my name is Tulip,

Adopted 3-23-25

My siblings and I arrived here as very young puppies in desperate need of a safe place to be. Our mom was adopted after our person died, but no one wanted us. Until we came here. The TALGV volunteers became our best friends, giving us food, water, cozy sleep spots, and lots of caring attention.  We’ve had fun playing puppy games, learning to go on walks, and even participating in “training,” a treat-earning activity that people seem to think is important. And now, we’re told, the best is yet to come. It’s called adoption, which happens when someone wonderful chooses you to love. I’m Tulip, a female puppy whose coat is black and tan with a touch of white, who’s eager to play, learn and love you back forever. Will you please choose me?

Hi… my name is Pansy,

Adopted 3-22-25

My siblings and I are so busy these days—growing and learning—that I don’t even think about that time when we were scared little puppies in a box. Our person had died, our mom was adopted, and no one wanted us. But then we met the TALGV volunteers! They gave us food, water, cozy sleep spots, and lots of caring attention. And now, each of us is growing, having fun, and learning good-dog lessons every day. I’m Pansy, a black and tan female, and I’m enjoying training time. Yes, it takes lots of patience from the person who’s teaching me, but I say just being together makes it a happy time. And when will I have my best day ever? When someone wonderful like you chooses me to love, and we go home together!

Bud

Hi… my name is Bud,

Adopted 3-12-25

When we arrived at TALGV, my sisters and I huddled together in a corner of our run, with me in front.  I’m Bud, and although I was called “the brave boy,” all of us were scared. Our person had died, then our mom was adopted, and no one wanted us. But we quickly realized that TALGV was full of our new best friends! On top of the essentials—food, water, shelter—TALGV volunteers gave us lots of caring attention. And now they’re teaching us important good-dog lessons. I’ve also made friends with a bigger, more grown-up dog, and the two of us can play for hours! One day he explained that adoption is when someone chooses you to love. Sounds like the best thing ever to me. Could you and I choose each other?

Hi… my name is Diesel,

Adopted 2-17-25

I’m a 2-year-old mixed breed, only 37 pounds, but my heart’s as big as they come. I’m shy when we first meet, like a diesel engine that takes a minute to warm up. But once I do, I’m ready to go, full of love, loyalty, and wagging tail. Oh! I’m a smart guy, too! I love puzzles and figuring things out – you could say I’m a bit of a problem solver. I walk really well on a leash, so we can explore the world together, and I promise, once we’re bonded, I’ll be right there with you, enjoying every adventure (and every snuggle). If you’re patient, I’ll warm your heart just as much as you’ll warm mine. Come meet me, so I can prove it!

Hi… my name is Duke,

Adopted by foster family 11-23-25

If you’re looking for a dog to share your active, happy life, I’m here for you! I’m a confident, curious, and, yes, sometimes goofy young hound dog who’s always ready for adventure and playtime. And if your family includes another dog, I could be good with that. I’ve lived with other dogs since I was a tiny pup. Of note, I’m now a strong guy and so the person on the other end of my leash should be strong, too. Friends say I’m also “very smart,” able to learn important good-dog lessons. The main thing I want to tell you is how much I want to be part of a family—whether that’s one person’s best friend or a houseful. If you say that can be with you, I’ll be one very happy hound!                                                                                                             (bio revised 12/10/24)

He is an all-around good dog that would love to be your new best friend. There is no adoption fee. Hi… my name is Rico,

Adopted 4-19-25

Imagine two little dogs tied to a stop sign under a piece of cardboard with the words “Free puppies.”  Heartbreaking, right? Well, I was one of those sad pups, but that was many months ago. Today, I’m glad to tell you, I’m enjoying life as a happy and playful young dog with lots of friends. On my first adoption I was too strong for my former person, but she liked me a lot. She said I was kind, loving, and well behaved with people and dogs. (Not so much with cats.) Being here gives me the chance to learn more good-dog lessons and I’m having fun with other TALGV dogs and the volunteers, but I do dream of home. If I can belong to you, I’ll be your loving, loyal, and grateful dog forever.

Hi… my name is Kibo,

Adopted 1-25-25

When my dad was being deployed and we said our sad goodbyes, he assured me I was ready for a wonderful new home because, he told me, “You’re an amazing dog!” Maybe he said that because I’m a girl who can easily make friends with people and other dogs. Although sometimes shy, I’m soon friendly, and I love to run and play with other dogs.  In quieter times, human friends praise me for being naturally sweet and affectionate. I’m a tan and white shepherd mix, 42 pounds at one year old, who’s been housetrained, understands words like “sit” and “lay down,” and does pretty well on leash.  (We shouldn’t bark at trucks, right?) So, yes, I’m ready to be someone’s loving, loyal and playful dog in a wonderful forever home. Could you be my someone?
