Winter is an affectionate 5-year-old, 50-pound Dachshund/Staffie mix female who needs a new home. She is crate trained, leash trained, and has some obedience training (knows “sit” and “crate”). She asks to go out and can use a doggy door. She is in good health, spayed, up to date on rabies shot, and medical records are available. Winter gets along with other dogs, cats, and children over 5 years. She loves peanut butter treats, dislikes loud noises, and will play briefly with her ball. She stays off furniture but, if invited, she will be happy to sleep with you instead of in her crate. There is no adoption fee for this sweet girl. I think I’m a little dog trapped in a big dog’s body. I love to go for walks and while I can demonstrate great leash manners, I’m also strong, so those who walk me should be experienced in keeping me focused. My owners left me with a friend and never came back for me. What the heck? My nice guardian got me proper vet care and ensured I became a responsible member of canine society: I would never have to worry about having puppies, I think it’s called “getting spayed?” Unfortunately, after several months, it was clear I was afraid of kids and she could no longer keep me. That’s how I ended up at TALGV. Now, I’m looking forward to meeting you! Just ask for Ms. Maisy, and I’ll see you soon!

Hi… my name is Spice,

I was found with another dog, both of us scared and hungry, outside a local library. Fortunately, our finder was patient and gently encouraging. When she offered food, we overcame our fears and let her bring us safely to TALGV. Here, I’ve made more new friends and really appreciate their kind words and affection. They report I walk well on a leash and appear to be housetrained (I “go” on our walks). As a young adult dog, I still have some lessons to learn, and I’m often shy around strangers, but thanks to my fondness for food, treats almost always help! I’m a female Pug mix, small but solid, with a soft tan coat and sparkling brown eyes. I hope you’ll come visit soon because I think my next best friend could be you!
