I’m yet another example of why microchipping – and keeping information current – is so important. Dogs can’t carry wallets. Where would we put them? Some very kind people found me wandering in Sahuarita without so much as a collar and brought me to The Animal League. I easily settled in with my canine neighbors while getting vetted, chipped and made a responsible member of society (neutered). Supposedly I was named after an equally handsome man from “back in the day,” maybe he had a fluffy tail? I’m a playful boy who has rather good leash manners. The volunteers think I’d make a great hiking and/or exercise buddy noting that while I’m energetic, I’m not the canine equivalent of the Energizer Bunny. If you like to play or if you have other friendly dogs who appreciate rollicking play sessions, I’d love to meet you and become a permanent member of your pack!

Like all the other dogs here, my companion and I arrived at TALGV through no fault of our own. Since my buddy was a little dog, he found a new home quickly. The volunteers learned I make friends easily and quickly found me another canine roommate. Wouldn’t you know, HE got adopted, too. While I’m now bunked with my third kennel mate, I can’t help but wonder who is looking for a handsome, easy-going guy with prior experience of living in a home. I have house manners, am house trained, and walk well on a leash. I have lived with very young children. I’m neither too energetic nor a couch potato. I’m not too big or too small. As Goldilocks would proclaim, I’m “just right.” Come visit me, and see for yourself. Perhaps you’ll find I’m the puzzle piece who fits in perfectly with you and your family. See you soon!

“She is as sweet as she is beautiful.” That’s what the TALGV staff said about me after my medical intake exam, where my behavior was “excellent.” Other volunteers also describe me as “very sweet,” and I’m so grateful for those kind new friends, especially after having been a stray dog without a home or person of my own. What a wonderful change to be in this comfy place with my own bed, regular food and water, and gentle people. And now, I’m ready to meet you! Please know I’ll be shy, especially at first, but if you do the talking, I promise to be a good listener. Every day I dream of my very own forever home, so if your heart could welcome a sweet 9-year-old female Chihuahua mix, please let it be me.

Cowboy

My mom is moving to Europe and she wanted to make sure I’d find the perfect new home. I’m a sweet, young, male Greyhound/Lab mix who’s great with other dogs and children ages 8-16 years, but not very small children. I’m somewhat cautious with new visitors and don’t know about cats! I’m very quiet and relaxed and behave well in the house. I’m crate trained and spend time there when left alone. By ringing a bell, I alert you to when I need to go out, and I can use a doggie door. I’m leash trained and know the commands “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “shake.” I was shy when I arrived, but now I know I’m safe with friends, who are sharing their loving care…until you take me home.
