Hi… my name is Havi,

Adopted 3-10-19

Even though I don’t have a home right now, I’m a happy, hopeful dog. After all, I was once lost, running loose and almost hit by a car, when strangers stepped up to rescue me. Good things do happen! And while I’m watching and hoping for my forever someone, I’m making friends here—I peacefully shared my run with another dog, and the volunteers compliment me for being attentive, affectionate, and lots of fun. A young adult (born in 2016), and slender (about 46 pounds), I’m an energetic, tan and white Boxer/Staffie mix male who equally loves playtime and belly rubs followed by naps. So if you’re looking for a playful, active companion who’ll love you to the moon and back, I hope to meet you real soon because we could be great together!

Hi… my name is Missy,

Adopted 3-4-18

When I arrived, they gave me a comfy bed, food and water, and said I could take time to just “settle.” Between you and me, I “froze.” On that first day, I hardly moved. Here’s why: I’d been rescued from the interstate after dodging traffic for at least ten days. Then suddenly I was in this friendly, happy, comfy place. Could it be real? Yes, it is! Now I’ve made friends with people and other dogs. Oh, I’m still a little shy, but so much happier—free to be my playful, affectionate self. And they tell me that someday, someone will take me home and be my best friend ever! I’m a 1-year-old beautiful female, just 36 pounds, probably a Shepherd mix and definitely a sweetheart. And you—are you the one I’ll love forever?

Lea

Hi… my name is Lea,

Adopted 3-17-18

My finder said that one day I just walked into their yard. We don’t know how I came to be lost, but I was lucky to have walked into that yard because those kind people brought me here. (I might have stayed longer with them, but I was way too interested in their cat.) I’m a young Staffie/Boxer mix female, and at 43 pounds I’m small for my breed, but mighty; that is, kind of strong and mighty cute, thanks especially to my beautiful gray and white markings and adorable ears. My finder said I was quite comfortable in a crate, which can be helpful, and very people friendly. I’m sure you’re dog friendly, so we could be a perfect match—for happiness, for love and for laughter. I’d love to be yours forever.

Hi… my name is Rukus,

Adopted 2-3-18

Rukus has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

If you love dogs (and I’m guessing you do), you understand the heartache of being what’s called an “unwanted” dog. It wasn’t about me, really—my person loved me. She got me as a puppy, said I grew up to be “wonderful,” and even liked my kisses. But she couldn’t take me with her when she moved to Phoenix; her family here wouldn’t take me, and her landlord wanted me gone yesterday. So I was living outside, experiencing long and lonely days, when suddenly, I came here. What a difference! Now I’m in out of the weather, have great company, walk with people every day, and I am wanted here; they call me “a sweetheart.” I’m a 7-year-old female, 44 pounds, and oh- so-ready to love you forever if you take me home.

Hi… my name is Bogart,

Adopted 10-27-18

I was named after actor Humphrey Bogart because I’m the leading man type—handsome, charming, and strong. But since I’m a dog, it’s probably equally important that I’ve been described as well-mannered, good in the house when left alone, and leash-trained. I also like to be friendly, affectionate, and my person’s loyal partner at play and in quiet times, too. A couple of caveats: I’m a strong jumper; low fences won’t keep me in. And I didn’t get along with the other dog at my last home, which is why I’m here, hoping to find someone who’ll love me as their only dog. I’m a 3-½-year-old Staffie mix male, 68 pounds, and although the handsome movie star talk is funny, what I really want to be is your faithful companion for fun and forever.

Hi… my name is Henry,

Adopted 12-31-17

I was a lost dog—no home, no family, no promise of food or water—until a Good Samaritan rescued me. What a relief! She brought me here to TALGV, where people appreciate the way I’m gentle and good-natured, curious about other dogs but generally not dog reactive on my walks. They’re teaching me to walk politely on a leash and, more importantly, how much fun it is to be with someone. Maybe it’s great for people to be rich or good-looking, but I don’t care about that stuff. I’m a dog. I see your heart, sense your kindness. I can even smell your friendliness. Maybe you can see the best in me, too. I’m a 2-year-old, 57 pound Boxer/Staffie mix male, who needs only this: Someone to love, who loves me back. How about you?

Hi… my name is Juan,

Adopted 1-10-18

Juan has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Things were going great with my new family, but then I had to return to TALGV due to my dad’s illness, which made me sad because I’m a very sensitive guy. If you visit, you may see me watching people go by with a reflective expression in my eyes. I yearn to be with them, to be someone’s happy friend. And I try my best to please—I ride well in a car, have great house manners, and, with my short legs, I don’t readily jump on furniture. I’m not a big barker, but I do love to be admired, and you know what? That admiration could be a two-way street if we meet heart-to-heart and see the best in each other. What do you say? Will you let me devote myself to you?

Hi… my name is Ralphie,

Adopted 2-25-18

Please let me show you—up close and personal—why people say that “dog is man and woman’s best friend.” (Cats have their meaningful proverbs, too, but I’ll let them speak for themselves.) I was a stray dog, covered in cactus needles, and that only made me happy to be found. My rescuer said I love people, which leads to the top reason a dog could be your best friend—we love unconditionally. At just 18-months old, I’m active but can be mellow, too, and, as your friend, affectionate when you want me to be. Already good on a leash, I’m a red and white Boxer/Staffie mix male, 58 pounds, who’s eager to learn more good-dog things to please you. And if you say the word, I’ll be the loyal, loving companion you deserve forever.
