Hi… my name is Valentine,

Adopted March 13, 2016

I’m a young little dog, but when some really tiny ones were in trouble, I was a lifesaver! Three puppies were born to a mother dog too old and sick to care for them. Their survival was at stake because they wouldn’t take bottles in foster care either, and that’s when I arrived. No one knows where I came from; it seemed a kind of miracle. I’m a beautiful 1-year-old Staffie mix female, only about 26 pounds, who’d just given birth. Sadly, my babies weren’t found. But I was ready to be a mother, and willingly nurtured those three puppies who desperately needed me. Today, we’re thriving, the pups and me, and I’m ready for a happy, carefree future. I’ve shown what a good little dog I can be. Couldn’t I please be yours?

Arrived February 5, 2016

PS A few photos of puppies are included but they will not be available for adoption until end of February.

Hi… my name is Marti (aka Della),

Adopted July 22, 2016

People often comment on my gorgeous looks, but I must tell you that I’m not self-centered. I’m so interested in the world around me—people, other dogs, anything that’s happening! I’m a 1-year-old Lab/Staffie mix female, about 60 pounds, a beauty in tan and white (my “baby” pictures are at the end of the website gallery). I’m an exuberant, energetic girl who can be good on a leash but strong, too, and so if I’m distracted, you need to be strong enough to get me “back in line.” I know “sit,” love water (have webbed feet), ride well in a car, and was crate-trained as a puppy. If you come for a visit, I know we’ll have fun meeting each other. And if we really like each other, I’d be so happy to be yours!

Hi… my name is Roxie (Sue),

Adopted by Foster Parents 6-15-19

I understand that losing my home wasn’t anyone’s fault—not mine or mom’s. She has a health issue and needed to move, and couldn’t take care of me anymore. So now I’m hoping that since I’m a friendly, grownup dog with a sweet disposition, some wonderful someone like you will give me a new forever home. I’ll give you my best: Will sit when you say to, walk beside you on the leash, and always remember my good house manners. And when we have our happy times—on walks, at play, and especially when you give me your love and attention—sometimes I’ll even smile (in my own way). I hope this sounds good to you because it sounds great to me. Won’t you please choose me to take home with you today?

Hi… my name is Blue,

Adopted September 5, 2016

Blue has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I was left home alone and, unlike the movie, no one came back for me. Fortunately, a helpful neighbor brought me to TALGV. Now, you might think I’d be upset about this situation, but I’m pretty much the opposite. I’ve remained calm and easy going, and adjusted almost immediately. I’m very interested in the world around me, “inquisitive” is how a volunteer describes me, and she says I’m also very bright. A grey and white Staffie mix male, 1 year old, I’m not given to barking much, but do enjoy watching people and, based on my eagerness to hop in a car, I’d probably like car rides. Truth be told, I’d love everything about a truly forever home and will give my full love and attention in return. Could that please be with you?

Hi… my name is Copper,

Adopted February 21, 2016

When found, I was more than a lost dog—I was a lost dog with a stick in his leg! My finder’s son took it out, no problems there, and brought me here so I could find a forever home. They call me Copper thanks to my reddish-brown, velvety smooth coat, but please notice the expression in my deep golden eyes, too. That’s one way I say that I’m really interested in getting to know you, and show you that I’m calm, easy-going, and a great companion. I’m a young adult, about 2, on the high end of medium size, and in great shape for the fun we’ll share, from playtime and long walks to quiet times at home. Let’s start with a visit today and see how great we’ll be together forever!

Hi… my name is Hugo,

Adopted December 19, 2015

Lost and running, all on my own, I took a lucky turn and ran under a small underpass. It was there I was spotted by a real nice guy who was driving by. He saw I was in danger on the road like that, so he stopped, opened his door and called to me. I didn’t think twice! I jumped in his car and he brought me to TALGV, telling the volunteers that I’m “very sweet.” They agree. I’m sweet and playful; a strong guy who’s super interested in people and learning to please them. I know “sit” and you can teach me lots more. 18-months-old, I’m a brown and white Staffie mix male, and I’m ready to step into a great life with you. Won’t you please open up your heart to me?

Hi… my name is Mackie,

Adopted December 27, 2015

My name is a hint about where I was found—in the parking lot near a particular McRestaurant. Guess that playful name is appropriate since I do love to have fun, and I find it almost everywhere because I’m interested in almost everything! On my walks, I sniff the air and what’s underfoot, look all around and then look at you to see if you’re interested, too. I’m grey (almost brown-grey) and white, a Staffie/Bassett mix, and at just 6 months old and 31 pounds, I’m still a little girl, but one who’s confident, curious, and lively. The volunteers say I’m “awfully cute;” I prefer “blossoming beauty,” but you be the judge. I’d love to have some adventures with you, so please come meet me and let’s see how much fun we can share!

Hi… my name is Vinnie,

Adopted January 13, 2016

The TALGV volunteers say I’m such a sweet and affectionate guy, they don’t even want to think about those lonely days when I was lost and wounded. I agree! Instead, let’s talk about how I was rescued and brought to TALGV. Here, they’ve taken care of me and recognized what a great dog I am. I’m fun-loving and “tuned in” to my human friends, eager to make that dog-and-person connection. They say they can see it in my eyes, which I imagine is true because I’m completely focused on the person being kind to me. I’m a 2-year-old, 61-pound Staffie mix male, mainly white with some really cool black markings, especially around one eye (kind of like Petey in Little Rascals), and I would truly love to start a happy new chapter with you.

Hi… my name is Joie (aka Zoiee),

Adopted November 6, 2015

My story from June 2015: Okay, I understand that a young puppy is probably more than some older people can handle or have time for, so I know it was nothing I did that brought me here! After my dad disappeared, his mom tried to care for his kids and me, but the combination was way more than she could handle. She said I was a typical youngster who was very playful and affectionate, loved to romp with the young kids (gently and politely though!), so I’ve got the basics down and all I need is someone with patience and time to guide me and give me the attention I deserve. I’m a darling black and white Staffie mix girl just waiting to demonstrate how happy, smart, and eager I am to learn.

Hi… my name is Blackie,

Adopted August 20, 2016

The person who brought me to TAL said that I “scare easily” and I’m “in need of love.” I agree, especially the love part. My story includes the sad word “abandoned;” I was left at a home where I couldn’t stay. That was a bumpy start in life, but things are getting better. I’m just a young female Staffie mix, shiny black with white markings. One of my favorite things is playing with other dogs, but what I’d really love is a person who’ll teach me what good young dogs need to know. If you can show me how I can be safe and happy in a home of my own, please stop by to meet me at TALGV. With your help, my story will change to that of a lucky dog!
