My friend Chubbs and I were brought to TALGV after being left to our own devices for some time. I am real friendly with people. I’m also quite young and energetic and, as they tell us here, I don’t know much. Apparently there is more to being a dog than playing with each other and getting petted by the two-leggeds! The folks here have started to teach me a few basics, but they say I still need to find someone with a firm but loving hand to teach me what I need to know to be a well-behaved companion in someone’s home. That’s a nice word, “home,” and I am willing to try real hard to have one of my own! Is there room for me in yours?

I am a nine-month-old Staffie mix gal who was brought to TALGV by a kind person who found me wandering behind Walmart. I am somewhat bashful until I get to know you. But once I know you . . . oh, my gosh, I am 39 pounds of wiggly-butt love! Or, as one volunteer put it, “exuberantly affectionate when smitten.” I’m told I walk well on a leash, but that I will need basic command training. Shh . . . a secret: Treats are my kryptonite AND the way to my heart! Show me a treat and with your loving guidance, eventually, I will show you a trick. The last thing you should know is, I have eyes that are the color of a green meadow, and they look waybetter in person (hint).

With this smile, you’d never know I came to TALGV as a shy stray. Today my volunteer friends say I’m an eager-to-please “love bug” that’s a fast learner. I’m also humbly handsome (wink). One volunteer even calls me her “boyfriend.” Why? Because I LOVE people! After all, people take me for walks and car rides, and … people have TREATS! I love treats, and I’m smart enough to know that yum-yums follow when I obey commands. Not to boast, but my obedience repertoire includes “sit,” “wait,” “stay,” “come,” and … drum roll… “leave it.” So, if you need a fur-kid to politely sit shotgun on your travels, or one who behaves on the other end of your leash, or perhaps you just need a friend, well…here I am: YOUR Amigo. Will you be mine?

Archie is a gentle and affectionate 6-year-old, 60-pound Boxer/Staffie mix male who needs a new home. He is neutered, shots are up to date and he is in good health. He loves people, including children of all ages, but he dislikes other dogs, and cats are unknown. Archie is housebroken, and he is crate, leash and obedience trained (knows sit, stay and heel). He is reliable to leave in the house for more than 12 hours. He enjoys walking and loves to run and play fetch the ball. There is no adoption fee for this special boy. I’m a happy, adorable Hound/Staffie mix, and at my age (about 9 months) I’m ready and eager to learn. This usually takes a touch of human patience, and being a healthy youngster, with a lot of puppy energy to burn off, I’d appreciate your firm but loving guidance. I need to continue my education, and it appears that I’m a pretty good student, because I’m already learning some basic commands like: “off,” “sit,” and “down” (occasionally). I recently passed the cat test, can use a doggie door, but may need some house training. I also need leash training, and once that’s accomplished we’ll both be able to enjoy our walks, and explore exciting places together. When I say “both,” I’m referring to you and me! So won’t YOU please take ME home?
