Hi… my name is Blanca,

Adopted 10-15-19

Abandoned and alone in the house with our brother after our human Mom died, my sister, Olivia, and I were rescued by an angel. She found our brother who died of starvation, and she took us in to comfort, love, and feed us. But her other big dogs weren’t happy with two Chihuahuas, so she brought us to TALGV. Understandably, at first we were petrified, but after just one day of nurturing by the volunteers, we started regaining our trust in people. By the afternoon of that first day, we were sitting on their laps. We know how to use piddle pads, but we’re just learning about leashes. I’ve relied on Olivia throughout our ordeal, but I’m gaining independence. I’m eager to start life over, loving you, and trusting that I’ll never be abandoned again.

Hi… my name is Sami-John,

Adopted 1-25-20

What a rollercoaster I’ve been on! I was once a feral kitten who was trapped and neutered (thus my clipped ear), and the lovely people who rescued me worked with Paws Patrol to domesticate me. Well, it didn’t take all that long, because now I’m a gentle housecat who adores laps and rubs. Sadly, my family is now planning a motor home life, so they felt I’d have trouble adjusting to their new peripatetic lives. They said I loved to play with toys and my small doggie housemate, and although I’m sometimes slow to warm up, I’m very “interactive” and love attention. So just come sit with me a while and you’ll find out!

Hi… my name is Todd,

Adopted 1-3-20

A kind person brought me to TALGV. No one knows for sure what I’ve been through, but they say I have come a long way in a month. In the past I learned to temper my curiosity with caution. A three-day retreat with some nice foster parents helped my confidence. They said the microwave and other loud things made me nervous, but I had fun exploring their house and really liked the other doggie in the mirror. They put my nice soft bed in front of the mirror and that made me feel safe. I didn’t make any messes in the house, and I really enjoyed the long walks on the leash, especially with confident doggie friends. I’m starting to relax a bit, and the treats and chin rubs are pretty nice, too. I’m looking for a special someone who will help me build my confidence. My foster parents think I would do well with a confident dog in the home to show me how things should be.

Hi… my name is Tank,

Adopted 1-3-20

Yep, you got it, I’m a big solid lab mix, built like a tank (ha ha, no pun intended). The next thing you will notice about me is my milk chocolate coat. I was a little rough looking after roaming in the desert for a while, but it feels good to have my coat back to that glossy chocolaty look. When you come to see me I’m going to run up and enthusiastically greet you with lots of big wet kisses. Being a young puppy boy, I find everything exciting and will let you know about it. I have a lot to learn and hope you will help me.

Hi… my name is Adrian,

Adopted 12-7-19

Do you sing off key? Well, that’s what my bark sounds like: off key. (Way. Off Key.) But hey, you’ll always know where I am, because there is no mistaking my voice for anyone else’s! I’d like to go and explore new places with you, play keep-away with my toys, and get petted. I like to run and I can also jump pretty high. After all, I am a handsome young Boxer/Staffie mix used to working out, and I like to maintain my attractive physique! I lived with a person who had to move and left me and another doggie in the yard, but a friendly neighbor brought us here to find brand-new families who will love us forever!

Hi… my name is Punkin,

Adopted 10-14-19

Sometimes you can tell just by looking whether a cat is a male or a female, so when you take a gander at my oh-so-very-feminine face, you’ll see what I mean. I’m the quintessential gorgeous gal – petite body, long silky hair, almond eyes, and a classic profile. All that in addition to my playfulness (I’m still basically a kitten at a year old)! I do crave attention and will follow you around (and occasionally nip you) until I get it, and love playing with toys and small balls. I do NOT get along with dogs though, so a cat tree, lots of toys, windows to sit in, and you are really all I need!

Hi… my name is Pepper,

Adopted 10-27-19

I was one of 23 chihuahuas in one household and am now learning how to bond with humans. My buddies were all canines, and I’m here with 2 of my housemates, Sarge and Toby. When we arrived at TALGV, we were all scared, and I hunkered down in my bed for weeks. I’ve started to come out of my shell recently, and know now that a collar and leash won’t hurt me. I’ll walk a little outside, but the noises coming from big things on wheels scare the heebie-jeebies out of me! Once I get to know and trust you, I’ll sit on your lap and lap up your affection. My wish is for a patient person and a calm home life where I’ll feel secure enough to let my true nature blossom.

Hi… my name is Toby,

Adopted with Sarge 3-6-20

I was one of 23 chihuahuas in one household and am now learning how to bond with humans. My buddies were all canines, and I’m back together with my brother Sarge who came here 5 months ahead of me. When I arrived at TALGV, I was scared, and I admit to growling at people who tried to coax me out of my kennel. I now know they were just trying to make friends. I’m still leery of being approached by a stranger, but I’m letting the volunteers dress me in a collar and harness and take me for walks. That’s something that used to scare me stiff! Step by step, and day by day, I’m making progress toward my dream of becoming a devoted companion in a loving home.
