My name may sound like a girl but I’m actually a boy – and a handsome one at that! I lived with my mom for 18 months and she said I was a “great cat” 95% of the time. I was very affectionate and loved to play with feather toys and lasers, but every now and again when I’d had enough “human time” I’d let her know by being “mouthy” (that’s not at all uncommon in declawed cats, you know), so she decided a new start in a new home might be best for me. If you’re a “cat reader” and recognize when I’ve reached my “togetherness” limit, I’ll bet we can turn that 95 into 100%!

Some felines are outgoing from the git-go and others, like me, are shy all their lives (except with their person). I lived with and loved my dad almost all my life, so you know that although I disappeared when visitors arrived, the two of us did pretty darn well together! Actually, there was also a Rottweiler in residence too, so that might have contributed to my reserve, who knows? Well, sadly Dad’s no longer able to care for us, so I’m trying ever so hard to adjust to my new circumstances. I’m so hoping there’s a patient person out there who’ll give this lovely 14-year-old lady (with free vet care) a new chance at life!

My siblings and I were abandoned as babies, along with Mom, and left to the mercy of the elements. A neighbor fed us over the fence around our small space until the lucky day when we were rescued. Having had little human contact, we were terribly shy at first and the others have been especially protective of me because I’m a bit more delicate than they are. But now, with food, water, and human kindness in constant supply, we’re developing a fondness for people, and hope to increase our confidence. Plus, playing with toys, exploring our outside space—such things come more easily now. I’m Panther, white with a brindle mask, 17 pounds at 3 months and growing. When people compliment me for being an exceptionally sweet, good-natured dog, I appreciate their kindness all the more because I’ve known rough times—one in particular. On that day, a young puppy mixed with some older dogs, then something happened and suddenly there was trouble—serious trouble for the puppy. I stepped in to help him and we both ended up in the hospital. The pup recovered fully and soon was adopted, and my wounds healed, too—you may notice a few scars, but friends tell me heroes often have scars. Now, I’m living in a foster home, hoping every day that someone wonderful will choose me as their dog, and together we’ll share a happy, carefree life. If that’s you—if you’ll let me be your sweet dog—you’ll be my hero forever!
