Hi… my name is Celine,

Adopted 9-9-18

You know how humans describe body types as “apple” or “pear” shaped? Well my housemates, Luchen, Delia, and I might be described as “footballs!” That’s not to say that we’re MEANT to be that way, it’s just what happens when you get too much food and too little exercise! Our mom left us (and four dogs!) with HER mom when she moved, and since she already had five rescues, well, you can imagine it was a smidge crowded! But our home was a happy one, and we got along with everyone – especially people – so I’m hopeful that my rumbly purr and furry rubs will convince you that there’s just more of this Manx lady to love!

Hi… my name is Sergio,

Adopted 7-8-18

Friends here call me a “Chiweenie”—combination Chihuahua and Dachshund. Right now, I’m a teeny Chiweenie—under 4 pounds at 7 weeks, making me a very little guy in this big wide world. I was found running down a road in Sahuarita, and came here still feeling quite scared. So I just quietly curled up on my comfy blanket, hoping everything would be okay. And you know what? Everything is better than okay! People have been so kind—complimenting my beautiful black coat, adorable face, and sweet disposition. We cuddle a lot, which makes me feel safe, and pretty soon I’ll be ready to play, too. And so I’m wondering—could I have what they call a “forever home” with someone who could love and teach a puppy like me? Could that be you?

Hi… my name is Vail,

Adopted 10-8-18

Four weeks really isn’t really a long time to let a bereaved gal adjust to a new life! Although my mom’s sister tried to integrate me into her home after my mom died, the resident cat wasn’t exactly welcoming (to put it mildly!), so I’m hoping one more try, in a quiet home, will let my stellar personality come shining through. Since I’m only a year old, naturally I’m still in the playful phase of my life (I love to fetch wadded up paper balls), so if you’re patient with me, shower me with love, and give me time to adjust, I know that you’ll be rewarded with all the companionship I have to share.

Hi… my name is Sheba (aka Angel),

Adopted 7-31-18

“A loving, affectionate, loyal little dog.” That’s how a friend described me, although at 39 pounds, you might call me medium-small size. I’ve also been called very, very intelligent, well behaved and eager to please, as well as “back-side sensitive,” which might be due to the BBs removed from my backside (someone apparently shot at me). My life hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve remained very sweet natured and loving. Pleasingly calm, too, although I’m “dog selective,” which means I like some but not all other dogs. As for people, well, I absolutely LOVE being with people! Fortunately, many of them love me, too. Maybe that could include you! Just shy of 6 years old, I know I could have a very good life for a good long time, if you make me yours.

Hi… my name is Rayita,

Adopted 10-21-18

Don’t have time to run to the door right away when the doorbell rings? Well, if only I had opposable thumbs, I’d get it for you! My mom said, “Rayita is a greeter and lies on her back to say ‘hi’ to anyone at the door. Although she’s sometimes independent, she loves to climb into people’s laps to sleep or be petted.” My brother, Moat, and I came here all the way from Puerto Rico with our family, but they’ve developed allergies to us, so we’ve both got our sights set on a new home. I’ll bet YOURS would fit just fine, so why not give this 6-year-old gal a new favorite spot to hunker down?

Hi… my name is Moat,

Adopted 10-19-18

Just like Clark Kent, I’m said to be “mild mannered” but I turn into Superman (well, woman!), as soon as you give me the nod! My sister, Rayita, and I made the journey here all the way from Puerto Rico with my family, but they’ve developed allergies to us, so we’ve both got our sights set on a new home. Mom said that I’m a sweet, loving girl who adores children and am eager to play with anyone, anytime. Like all cats, I’m a creature of comfort, and love sleeping on comfy, soft things (blankets, beds, laps!), so why not give this 6-year-old gal (and maybe her sister?) another one where she can hunker down?

Hi… my name is Moony,

Adopted 7-23-18

Life just isn’t fair! I arrived at TALGV just when what seemed like a whole truckload of fluffy, adorable, nothing-cuter-than-kittens arrived, and being just a smidge older (and black to boot!), everyone was oohing and aahing over THEM and overlooked ME! Well, I’m here to say that they missed out on one sweet, mega-purr boy, but you’ve still got your chance! I was found in the desert fending for myself, but hoping to find a Good Samaritan to save me. It worked then, and I’m hopeful it’ll work now, so just a few minutes with me (and my friend in the same boat, Van) will convince you that teenagers are “where it’s at!”

Hi… my name is Sunny (aka Callie),

Adopted 7-9-18

“Single and loving it!” Let’s say that’s my new motto. Things had been happy at home for about four years, and then something changed. None of us know exactly why, but I no longer got along with the other dogs. We parted with real sadness, but it seemed best for all concerned. My former people called me “a great dog,” usually well behaved, and listed commands I know: sit, stay, down, shake, come. No surprise, I’m an “excellent retriever”—love playing with my toy ball. I’m also leash trained, love car rides, and although not crazy about water, I’m okay having a bath. They recommended I be an only dog (see my new motto) and I’m yearning for big-hearted people to love. A yellow Lab female, 4-1/2 years old, I’m ready to be all yours.

Hi… my name is Kiki,

Adopted 6-9-20

Since I have been here at TALGV for more than a year, our Cat Care Volunteers will pay for my adoption fee.

When a dog has been chasing you for three years (OK – it was partly my fault ‘cuz I sometimes provoked him!), you can become a little wary and defensive. That’s why sometimes when feeling threatened I’ll let you know that I’m ready to be left alone. But when I’m cool, calm, and collected, well, bring on the love! I lived with my family (including a youngster – but I’m better with older kids) after being rescued as a kitten, and still love playing with dangly toys and doing “cat stuff.” I’m a soft-as-a-bunny calico lady, and in a quiet home, with time and patience, I’m sure I’ll learn to trust again and become your best companion!
