TIDA is a smart, well-behaved, and affectionate 4-year-old, 50-pound Staffie mix female that needs a new home because rescuer can no longer keep her. She is housebroken (asks to go out), spayed, and shots are up to date. She loves to take walks and car rides; she is obediencetrained – knows many commands. She is crate trained and needs lots of outdoor exercise, play time, and companionship to keep her content. Tida is very social with people but may do best as an only pet. There is no adoption fee. If you will welcome this special girl into a loving home as part of your family, please call Lesa between 9 AM and 8 PM at 520-780-0585 (please leave voicemail).

Hi… my name is Windy,

Adopted 6-9-18

To be dramatic, I’d say it was a “dark and stormy night” when my babies and I arrived at TALGV, but, no, it was just a typically windy day in Arizona, so it sure was nice to get inside since we’d been “living rough” for quite a while. We went to live with a foster mom ‘til the kids were ready to be on their own, so now I’m looking for attention, love, and someone I can call my own. I’m a little strip of a thing and only about a year old, but you know good things come in small packages, so come take advantage of all the gifts I’m eager to dole out!

Hi… my name is Buster,

Adopted 7-9-18

I like to take life in the peaceful, friendly lane. Oh, I still adhere to my good-dog duties, but in my own sweet way. For instance, my former owner said I would bark and growl to let you know a stranger was approaching, “but when the person gets close, he’ll love on them.” Recently, that positive attitude has stood me in good stead as I’ve dealt with two challenges. First, I lost my home. My previous owner is driving an 18-wheeler now and couldn’t take me along. Next, I needed medical care for heartworm, which took some time but I’m very glad to report that I successfully completed the treatment. Now, more than ever, I’m ready for the best part of life—a happy future with someone fun, loving, and kind. Is that you?

Hi… my name is Chief,

Adopted 9-1-18

Here’s the “autobiography” my short-term dad wrote for me: “Hi, I’m Chief. The name might sound tough, but I’m not – I’m totally sweet. I never hiss (even though I’ve been seriously hissed AT!). I lived in San Francisco with my mom, but her boyfriend was allergic to me, so I moved to Green Valley with her parents. They’re nice, but their scary cat and silly dog didn’t like me AT ALL, so I hid in the closet for three months! I don’t need a lot of attention, but it sure would be nice to sit next to someone who loves me! If you let me do that, I’ll give you little kisses on your arm and purr forever!” Oh, and at 10 years of age, I come with Free Vet Care for Life, so what more can I add except, please take me home?

Hi… my name is Freedom,

Adopted 6-24-18

My canine buddy, Liberty, and I were roaming the desert until our hunger overcame our fear. A kind woman offered us food and, after careful consideration, we accepted. Of course, then we couldn’t get enough—food, water, and comfort. But you should know that here at TALGV, we’ve been quite shy again. Maybe we had people friends before, I can’t be sure, but I’ve shown signs of being a natural cuddler; on my scary intake exam, I just cuddled up to whoever was holding me. A handsome 1-1/2-year-old male, solid black and 12 pounds, they call me a Chiweenie—a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. If you can help me feel safe and cozy, I’ll try my best to also be called a great little companion for you—the one who shows me the happy side of love.

Hi… my name is Oreo,

Adopted 6-26-18

Moving here was a big surprise to my sister Bambi and me. We’d been with our people four years, ever since we were puppies, but when they moved out of state and couldn’t take us, we no longer had a home. Needless to say, that’s a scary predicament. When we arrived at TALGV, we just barked at strangers and huddled together. But things are getting better. The Den Mothers help a lot. They’re the volunteers who visit us regularly in The Den—the room here for little dogs. With their encouragement, we’re showing more of our true selves—bright, vivacious and spunky. We’re Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix females; I’m the black and white one, 12 pounds, and if you could love a lively, attentive little dog like me, I’d be proud to be your devoted companion.

Hi… my name is Gomez,

Adopted 6-3-18

Sometimes you wonder how pet names are selected, don’t you? Well, odd name or not, I’m one snuggly, affectionate 3-year-old boy who’ll make your day just that much brighter when I’m part of it. I was found in Phoenix several years ago, then migrated to Rio Rico where my family finally decided they had too many pets. I’m playful (as befitting my young age), thrive on attention, and will do anything for treats! I’ve lived with four Chihuahuas, a Poodle, and five cats (including my friend, Inkblot, who’s here also), and am gentle with kids, so with just a bit of settling in time, I’ll be the best addition to your life ever!
