MADDIE is an active and social 5 ½-month-old, 28-pound female Cattle Dog mix puppy. She is housebroken and will ring a bell to go out. Maddie is crate trained and will sleep in her crate at night. She is leash trained and will sit for treats. She gets along with other dogs and cats; children are unknown. She needs lots of exercise and will play with her toys for long periods. She is a good eater and loves her person.

A nice person found me wandering the streets and took me in. Unfortunately, he had quite a few other pets and I didn’t feel comfortable there. I was scared. Luckily they brought me to The Animal League where I can look for a good home. I’m still scared here and I pretty much keep to myself. However, I’m learning to enjoy petting from the volunteers. I have a beautiful “torbie” coat, which means I’m basically a tortoiseshell but I have dark stripes. I’m beautiful! I’m looking for a peaceful place where I can blossom. I have many years to be your companion.

Because my human could no longer keep me due to her travel and work, I was given to her parents. In that home I did not get along with the other resident cats and particularly dogs. So, you get it; don’t you? I want to be your only pet! I’m a handsome boy with attractive markings. I love to eat and then take a nap. During my waking hours I have a lot to say. For my entire life, I’ve lived with my human whom I adored. When she had to move, she couldn’t take me with her. In her home, I got along with a dog for the past few months. Although I am DECLAWED, I played rough with children. I prefer adults in a quiet home. I’m a hefty guy who’s a grazer. A diet and exercise routine could help me. My favorite toys are cat mice with cat nip. I like to sleep on a bed or in the sink! I warm up to people slowly and like to be petted; otherwise, I’ve been called feisty. So everyone knows puppies are cute AND lots of work to ensure we become well-mannered dogs. Here’s what you may not know: I’ve already had a head start? First, I’m fully vetted, microchipped, and spayed. Second, I’ve been attending TALGV’s Puppy-Training Program, which includes training on how to walk on a leash and learning basic commands. Third, I’ve been getting a lot of socialization with people and other dogs. Fourth, I mean – look at me! I’m ADORABLE and will only improve with age. So, is there anything I haven’t mastered? There is one thing: I didn’t pass the ‘cat test’. (It’s them, NOT me – LOL!). My siblings who arrived with me have all been adopted. You know what that means, right? The best puppy was saved for last! Don’t miss out on meeting me!
