Hi… my name is Makumbo.

Adopted April 24, 2016

I’ll bet you didn’t know that “makumbo” means “legs” in the Shona language! And I’ll also bet that my mom didn’t know that I’d grow up to fit that name perfectly either! I’m a sleek, velvety black long-legged boy who came to TALGV from an overcrowded situation along with ten other black cats. At first I was pretty shy, but now that I’ve been here a while, the volunteers are showing me that the social life really is the best life, and I look forward to visitors who’ll sit in my room and get lost in my luxuriously soft coat and delightful persona. Turns out it only took attention, affection, and a little patience to transform me, so why not help me continue my metamorphosis on your lap?

Hi… my name is Lima.

Adopted 2-16-17

When you come to shelter with ten other black cats, you figure your chances at getting adopted might be pretty slim! Well, I’m hoping that TALGV is the special place that proves that concept wrong by making sure our attributes and individual virtues are “out there” for all to see! We came from an overcrowded situation, so we’re all keeping pretty low profiles at the moment, but in no time our “real selves” are sure to emerge. None of us have had a lot of “play experience,” but the volunteers are teaching us that that really is a thing that cats do, so we’re all trying to get the hang of being the friendly, outgoing felines we were born to be. If you could help me in that endeavor, I’d be ever so grateful!

Hi… my name is Lobo.

Adopted August 17, 2015

When you come to shelter with ten other cats, all of which are black (except one!), you figure your chances at getting adopted are petty slim! Well, I’m hoping that TALGV is the special place it is and proves that concept wrong by making sure our attributes and individual virtues are “out there” for all to see! We came from an overcrowded situation, so we’re all keeping pretty low profiles at the moment, but in no time our “real selves” are sure to emerge. I’m said to be very playful (not all of us know how to do that yet it seems!), am one year old, am a paragon of ebony exquisiteness, and am looking for someone special to whisk me away to a new life!

I’m a handsome shiny black youngster, with a glint of white here and there, and am looking for you to whisk me away to a new life!

Hi… my name is Sidney.

Adopted May 24, 2015

They’re calling me a Lab mix, but being a lightweight with “shortish” legs, there may be a bit of Doxie hiding in me, too! Whatever the mix, I am a sweet and happy boy who was found running on Nogales Highway (that’s part of the reason I’m happy — it was pretty busy out there!). I adore greeting visitors, who I can cajole into petting me, and then do my best to convince them that life will be ever so much more exciting with me by your side. (I’ve been overnighting with a foster mom and she says I’m totally enjoying being able to stretch my legs and experience home life with adult dogs!) I’m only about 9 months old, so we’ve got many years ahead of us to discover what great pals we are!

Hi… my name is Oreo.

Adopted May 24, 2015

Yippee! I’m soooo happy to have finally arrived at TALGV! I was found way back in April, and since they didn’t have enough space for larger dogs at the time, I was boarded at a kennel for over a month, so I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of “people time” there. At first glance, you might wonder how I got my name since I’m 99% black, but once you see the white icing “filling” on my chest, you’ll understand why they couldn’t have called me anything else! I’m a happy-go-lucky gal, have nice leash manners, and am at a great age (10 months) for learning all sorts of new stuff (the volunteers are working on that), so when you meet me, I’ll bet you’ll resolve to make this cookie your very own!
