Animal League News

Hi… my name is Biltmore,

Adopted 1-22-25

A member of the Hotel Litter, I was adopted into a home with two adults and a resident female cat. All was well until my human moved and could only take one pet. Since I had become aggressive towards the female cat, she brought me back to The Animal League. She said that I was a lover, appreciating having my head scratched and being brushed. I was her lap cat and slept near her. Although I was a picky eater, I would extend my paw for treats. Shy, I hid from strangers. At the shelter I’m slowly allowing volunteers to pet me. Never being around children or dogs, perhaps I should be your only pet. How about it?

Hi… my name is Poppy (aka Stevie),

Adopted 10-13-24

Since arriving at TALGV I’ve acquired many new friends, including my roommate. I can be shy, but I usually warm up pretty fast. My trainer, who thinks I’m a “wonderful dog,” took me home to see how well I behave. I think I did great! I know the meaning of commands: sit, lay down, stay, come, leave it, no and off (furniture). Once you adopt me, you can set (and enforce) your own house rules. I’m strong and may occasionally pull, but I walk well on leash. I sleep all night in a crate, enjoy playing with toys, and am familiar with doggy doors. I’m house broken, but until you learn my “tell” you’ll need to put me out regularly. Confidentially, when you take me home, I might show YOU my ”tell.”  (10/2022)

NOTE: Stevie has been social, tolerant, and playful when meeting other dogs in TALGV’s playgroup. She would like to meet any resident dogs before adoption to your home.

Hi… my name is Heirloom,

Adopted with Roku 10-16-24

I think I’m the perfect package—sweet and playful, with a handsome black and white coat! My foster moms all agree. I was the smallest of my siblings and made up for it by being the most affectionate.  I love to be held and petted and will purr my way up your chest to your neck. I’ll roll over like a dog, if you will only pet me! I have my playful times too, but will always stop for human attention. If you are looking for just such a perfect package, please come meet me. I will greet you warmly and try to charm my way into your heart.

If you are considering adoption, stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Or you may  call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make an appointment. Kennel hours are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Ringo,

Adopted 10-27-24

There’s no confusing me with the well-known drummer by the same name and what I lack in musical talent, I more than make up in looks as I’m the more handsome one – LOL! I was found as a stray and have quickly endeared myself with the TALGV volunteers. I love to snuggle and consider myself to be a lapdog. It matters not if I’m larger than the lap I’m cuddled on.  I’ve made friends with other dogs and was lucky enough to get a roommate to keep me company and play with. I’m a very good boy on walks, and if I get distracted by lizards or flying insects, I’m easily reminded of the task at hand. If you’re looking to fill a non-drumming spot in your family, I could be the perfect fit!

Hi… my name is Ollie (aka Olivia),

Adopted 12-17-24

I found myself stranded at TALGV early one morning with a note from my previous owners stating the common refrain: “We can no longer care for her.  Please find her a good home.”  No other information was shared and the volunteers allowed me time to reveal who I am – besides being an adorable, somewhat petite pup. I’m not as shy as before, but please give me time to warm up to you. Once I feel safe, we’ll be BFFs! I’ve made friends with other dogs and enjoy going on pack walks with them and have had several roommates who’ve helped me with my confidence. TALGV has been wonderful to me and I just KNOW they’ll help me find my perfect forever family.  Maybe with you?

Hi… my name is Stark,

Adopted 11-17-24

If we become acquainted, you may suggest changing my name to Pal or Buddy or—well, you get the idea. I like to be and to have a good friend. When I first came to The Animal League—which happened because our person moved and couldn’t take us with her—I lived with another dog. Since she was adopted, I’ve shared my run peacefully and happily with another dog. Guess you could say I’m good company and not just with canines. People have called me a very friendly and lovable guy, even “the sweetest ever.” I’m good on leash for casual walks and I’d love to be your partner in a fun and active life, too. As for proper names, I’ll be happy with whatever you choose, as long as you call me yours.

Hi… my name is Avatar,

Adopted 1-4-25

Lost in a maze of neighborhoods, I was looking for my home. Finally, a kind woman rescued me and brought me to The Animal League where I’m now being cared for. Sure, it’s great to have “three hots and a cot!” (That’s military for three meals and a bed.) I’m enjoying the attention of kind volunteers. Rubbing up against their legs, they immediately pet me. I love that! When other cats shun me, I walk away and hop up on a cat tree to stretch out for my nap. It’s a good life, but not the best life. What’s the best life? To be cared for and loved by you in your home. What do you say?

Hi… my name is Inky,

Adopted with Otis 1-5-25

Sitting on a windowsill in The Animal League gazing out the window, I ponder my good fortune. Very little is known about me. Roaming about in Esperanza Estates, a kind woman found me and brought me to safety. That was good, although I was so scared upon arrival that the volunteers let me get my bearings for a few days before they checked me out. That calmed me so that they could care for me. I’m grateful! Although I’m not a kitten anymore, I do like to play with wand toys. “Purrfection” would be having my own human on the other end playing with me! How ‘bout it? Are you game? I’m here waiting for you.
