CALLIE is a beautiful and smart 3-year-old, 48-pound female Blue Heeler that needs a new home as there are numerous grandchildren and she is not good with kids. She is spayed, healthy, and shots are up to date (medical records available). Callie can be shy until she gets to know you; gets along with other dogs; cats are unknown. She is a great alert dog and knows several commands. She is leash and crate trained and is housebroken. Callie loves attention, toys, and belly rubs. If you would welcome this special dog into a loving home as part of your family, please call Barb between 9 AM and 8 PM at 520-834-3156. There is no adoption fee.

Hi… my name is Dottie,

Adopted 3-2-19

Maybe you’d like to know how I came to be here, and I must answer, “me, too!” Along with another dog, I was left behind (nicer than “abandoned,” right?). Our person didn’t want to go, but life is tough sometimes. The good news is that the other dog has been adopted, so here I am—an 8-year-old Shepherd mix female—ready to start new! The wonderful people who adopted my canine friend said I was a sweet, affectionate dog, well behaved, eager to please and will make a great pet, but probably best as the only one because I was sometimes unfriendly toward the other dog. Other good qualities: I’m leash trained, “ask” to go outside, and sweet as the day is long. Please let me show you what a great companion I’ll be!

Hi… my name is Rusty,

Adopted 12-19-18

Before coming here, I was one of fifteen dogs all living together in the same place! Different breeds, genders, ages—mainly small to medium small—and we all got along. Still do! We’re a sweet, loving bunch. But when our people moved and couldn’t take everyone with them, most of us came here—some of us shy, others very friendly, and each one hoping for the same thing: A new, comfy, loving home. We’re already experiencing new things; leashes and doggie doors were unknown to us, and we’ve not been around small children. I’m a brown 7-year-old Dachshund/Terrier mix male, about 25 pounds, and every ounce packed with personality. A friendly guy (a great kisser!), I’d love to meet you. And if you take me home, I’ll try to make you smile every day!

Hi… my name is Missy,

Adopted 11-26-18

It makes a big difference if kittens have had a mom around during their formative years to teach them good manners. Unfortunately, I didn’t get enough of that education, so I’m going to need a savvy, “cat person” who can be a surrogate. I’m a gorgeous 5-month-old classic calico, who’s very active (surprise!), likes to sit in your lap and purr (for short periods!) and loves toys (well, everything’s toy, isn’t it?). I’m hopeful you’ll be the kind of person who thinks that some “education time” invested will be double the reward in forever “wonderfulness,” ‘cause If you ask me, I’m just a gem that needs polishing!

Hi… my name is Mikka,

Adopted 8-8-19

This year I had a wonderful vacation—a stay with my foster mom and dad. We had a great time being together. They called me gorgeous and puppy-soft, and frequently brushed my coat, which I loved. (They brushed my teeth, too, which was, well, okay.) I’m also a big fan of exercise; going on walks with them was a daily treat. Foster mom noted that I wasn’t always friendly around strangers or other dogs, but I listened to her well and responded quickly to commands. (They called me smart!) In their yard, which has a 5-foot wall, I didn’t try to get out, and inside, I showed that I’m kennel- and house-trained. Being in a happy, loving home was a dream come true. Would you give me a chance to be in yours forever?

Hi… my name is Marley,

Adopted 2-25-20

Has earned his Canine Good Citizen certificate

“A wonderful, loving, good boy.” That’s what my friend said after I spent a week with his family. Plus this: “Great with kids, ages 12 and 13; great with our 6-year-old female German Shepherd.” So what went wrong? Cats. I cannot live with cats. I have some food protection issues, too, but the cats were the deal-breaker. My friend was really sad to say good-bye—even wrote a report on what an awesome dog I am, saying that I’m leash trained, good in the house when the owner is gone, know commands, and love everything. It’s true—I love fetch, affection, and just being with people because I have a ton of love to give. I’m a gorgeous, fun-loving boy, and if you’ll give me a chance, I’ll happily bring joy to your days.

Comes with FREE Vet Care for Life

As a senior dog, I’m glad to be a “known quantity”—personality and behavior well established. The family friend who brought me here after my person passed away described me as “loyal, friendly, sweet, and loving.” In my few days with him, I was around a toddler and another dog, and we all got along. Also, I’m leash-trained and housebroken; yes, I’ve learned those lessons. Walks are still fun, but I’m content with lots of relaxation, too, and as a 14-year-old, I come with Free Vet Care For Life. Oh, I know it’s a lot to ask for you to choose me. There are younger and cuter dogs, and my dark golden coat has white hairs now, but if you want a dog who truly knows how to love and be loved, I’m all yours.

Hi… my name is Cher,

Adopted 3-31-18

When I was lost, running down Nogales Highway, my immediate needs were pretty basic: A safe place to rest, food, and—number one—water. I was so thirsty! Settling in here with my own water dish, food, and a comfy bed was a tremendous relief. And now I can focus on the love of my life: People! I love being with people. Honestly, I don’t always like other dogs, but people are my favorite critters ever. Some of the volunteers call me “lovebug” because I’m so happy to greet them and give them my attention and affection. If you and I get together, the same will be true with you. I’m a 2-year-old brown and white Staffie mix female, 62-pounds, learning how to walk on a leash, and ready to happily devote myself to you!

Hi… my name is Parker,

Adopted 2-23-18

On a sunny Saturday afternoon—another hungry day for me—a wonderful something magic happened. I can’t describe it exactly, but I was just searching for something edible, when suddenly a kind person was talking to me, and then presto—I was at The Animal League! They call that magic being “rescued.” And let me tell you—I like it. No more hungry days for me; here I have company, comforts, and pretty soon I won’t be as skinny as I was on rescue day. I’m a very handsome Collie/Shepherd mix, a nice medium size male, and as a 1-year-old, I’m still playful, energetic, with some things to learn. Shy at first, I’d love to show you how I warm up quickly, what fun we could have together, and why I’m the dog for you!
