To stay calm on busy days at the shelter, it helps to be a pretty easygoing guy. The volunteers credit me with just that, saying that even when there’s lots going on around me here, I keep my cool. Granted, I’m a little scared, too, but my rescuer said I was the same at his house; “doesn’t bark,” he noted, and that was in a home with three other dogs. I did my best to be a good guest—being friendly, following basic commands—and after my home wasn’t found and my rescuer brought me to TALGV, I’ve tried to just keep being a friendly, good dog. I’m 17 pounds, a tan Wire Haired Terrier mix male, who may be calm, but you’ll make my heart pound with happiness if you make me yours.

Marcus

I was out for my morning jog when a woman ran up to me… Okay, I’m kidding. My rescuer was the one jogging, and I ran up to her because I was lost. Fortunately, she liked me right away and agreed to help me out. She took me home for a week, where I enjoyed spending time with her three children and four dogs. After no one claimed me, she brought me here, telling volunteers that I know the commands “sit” and “stay,” and like to play soccer and baseball! I’m also leash trained, so we can have all kinds of fun together—hiking, sports, or just hanging out. I’m an active young Boxer mix male who’d make a great addition to lots of households and has a heart full of love to give.

Molly

MOLLY (aka Tamale) is a beautiful 35-pound, 9 ½-month-old Lab/Aussie mix with tan and white coat that needs a new loving home due to owner’s changing personal circumstances. She is strongly bonded with Squeakers (aka Pip), her male sibling so owner strongly believes they should not be separated when they are adopted. Both pups have had all shots appropriate to their age, been spayed and neutered, been micro-chipped, and are in good health. Both pups know basic commands, are crate trained, leash trained, and housebroken. They have been taught to ring a bell when they want to go out, but also are comfortable using a dog door. Both dogs are loving, very affectionate, and eager to please. They have been socialized and have lived with another older dog and 2 cats. They are also great with children. They have been taught to bark at the door. Both pups are very high energy and love to go on walks or runs, and play at the dog park. They will do best with a fenced yard where they can run freely. All the pups’ gear will go with them, including each of their crates, a shared doghouse, leashes, harnesses, toys, and health/shot records. There is no adoption fee.

Sancho

Sancho is a handsome 50-pound, 10-year-old, neutered male collie/staffie mix. He loves other dogs and is lonely without his recently lost companion. Sancho was adopted as a puppy from the Sedona Humane Society. He is neutered and in good health but owners are no longer able to keep him due to personal circumstances and want him to have a new loving home. Sancho is sweet and affectionate and prefers being indoors. He loves to play and take walks. He does well with kids over 5. All of his gear will go with him. There is no adoption fee.

I was a lost little dog, depending on the kindness of strangers, when I wandered into a yard I’d never seen before. Luckily, the people there were very kind indeed. They took me in and kept me for a month, but since they’re gone to work all day, there just wasn’t enough time for me. So they brought me here, where I can meet someone who’ll want me forever! I’m a sweet Rat Terrier mix male, tan and white; a great size for cuddling and playing at just 9+ pounds. Plus, I’m friendly—I’ve been very happy to meet children here at the Animal League. Won’t you please stop by today, even if it’s just to say “hi.” Who knows—we might become instant friends and you’ll be the one to welcome me home.

When we meet, you’ll see why the volunteers call me “sweet and petite.” I’m a slender Shepherd mix female, only about 29 pounds, a little bashful but so delighted to see you that I’ll greet you with my bright-eyed happy look. You’ll probably notice my left rear leg isn’t exactly normal, and that’s when my story gets serious. I was found dragging my legs. Who knows what had happened, but x-rays demonstrated both back legs were fractured. I bravely faced the required orthopedic work, recovered nicely, and now I’m leash trained and love to play catch! I’ve learned commands including “sit” and “go outside,” and my rescuer said I was good with people and animals. These days, I’m a happy puppy with a long life ahead, and I’d love to share it with you!

I was with my people for twelve good years, but life changed and Dad moved to a place I couldn’t go. So, at 13-1/2-years-old, I need a new home. Never thought I’d be here now! Plus, I’m blind, but I adjust to that. For instance, when we go for a walk, I follow your voice, mindful of the leash and occasionally touching your leg to make sure we’re together. When we relax, my soft tan coat is good for brushing and your gentle touch is kindness itself to me. These days, I see with my heart, and picture myself with a wonderful someone in a peaceful home. I’m a happy guy who’s got lots of living to do! Just 7 months ago, my siblings and I were born via a difficult delivery. Mom needed a rest, so we were taken care of by a surrogate mother—a wonderful and life-saving gift! We all did well and were adopted, but then things changed at my place. My person was moving and wanted me to have the benefit of a bigger place. Can’t argue with that—I do enjoy exercise, playing fetch, and love playing in water. Turn on the hose or fill a wading pool and we’ll have a grand old time! I’m a very loving Otterhound mix male, black and tan, housebroken, currently 40 pounds and growing. How about we meet today and see how much fun we can have together!
