Hi… my name is Welby,

Mama dropped me off with my siblings at a nice man’s house, and he brought us to The Animal League. I’m the last one still here! After a period of extreme shyness, now I’m “Mr. Friendly,” coming out to meet each new person in my room. I’m not a lap boy, but I do like being near humans and will follow you around to keep you company. I get along with the other cats in my room and like to play with string toys. I have a soft white coat with a black tail and black markings on my head. Would you be the one to introduce me to the joys of a new home?

If you are considering adoption, stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Or you may  call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make an appointment. Kennel hours are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Kildare,

Adopted 2-18-24

Mama dropped me off with my siblings at a nice man’s house, and he brought us all to The Animal League. My remaining brother and I are still here.  We look alike, but you can tell us apart by the smudge of grey on our faces—mine is on my nose, and my brother’s is near his eye. I’m a little shy, not having had much human contact so far, but I’m coming around. The volunteers say I will approach and stay at a short distance, and then work up my courage to come closer for petting and brushing. I like it so much, I sometimes give light nibbles to say “please don’t stop.”

Hi… my name is Herbie,

adopted 4-7-24

I’ve been asked to tell you my story and I’m glad to do it. I’m a dog. I like having a job. There’s just one problem. I was found running down a busy road and I don’t remember much before that. For now, I’ll just say a big thank you to the kind woman who stopped for me and brought me safely here. Since then, I’ve made lots of new Animal League friends.  One of them taught me how to “sit” on my first day! Another time, I solved a dog puzzle and was told that I’m as smart as I am handsome! Did I mention I’m just 1 year old? Fun-loving and fun to have around, I’d like to make friends with you, too. Who knows? We might start our own story together!

Hi… my name is Zeus (aka Dodge),

Adopted 11-19-23

One morning I woke up in my familiar, comfy home and then everything changed. Turned out, my family’s new place isn’t big enough for the children, the cats, and me. Was I upset? Yes. I’d lived with my family since I was a pup. I love living indoors and, most of all, being with people. My former family said I was “great” with the kids (ages 1 and 5) and the two cats. Here, I’ve been shy and lonely, but time and kind people are helping. When a good friend went with me to my medical exam, they said my “inner goofy boy” started coming out. Everyone was glad and it felt good to me, too. I’m housetrained, know several commands, and am ready for my new happy, forever home. Could it be with you?

Hi… my name is Lady Grey,

Rainbow Bridge 10-21-23

You can make lots of yummy things with Velveeta cheese, but for me, it’s a special treat when I get my daily dose of thyroid medicine! As an 11-year-old lady (with free vet care), I’ve developed an overactive thyroid, but it’s kept in check quite nicely with just half a pill a day in a glob of that great orange stuff! And then I’m ready to spend time either joining you watching TV or reading or just curling up in bed. People say I’m shy, but once I get to know and trust you, I love to cuddle and have my belly rubbed. I do miss my mom, who recently died, but in another quiet home, I’m sure you and I can have a new beginning! (bio 9/17)

Hi… my name is Oscar,

Adopted with Marble 11-25-23

“Home is where the military moves you,” but that doesn’t apply to pets. Reluctantly, my feline buddy and I were returned to The Animal League. I lived with a family of adults, four young children, and two dogs. My human dad said that I have a wonderful temperament and got along very well with everyone! Playing with my feline buddy and the dogs was my favorite sport. I enjoyed being carried by the young children or adults (I’m not picky) and snuggling at night with whoever was available. I love everyone! I have more living to do, and I’d like to do it with YOU! Please come meet me so I can win you over.

Hi… my name is Sunshine,

Adopted 11-29-23

I’m known to people, familiar with me, as a gal with a “sunny” disposition. With that endorsement, what name could possibly be a better fit for a sweet, affectionate, 3-year-old Staffie mix like me! My previous owner said I behave well in the house, ask to go out, and over all I’m a “good dog.” I’m also crate and leash trained, but because I am a strong walker, he decided he could no longer handle me. I know the commands “sit,” “stop,” “down,” and “stay” and enjoy playing with toys, but sharing, not so much. I’d probably do well in a home with older children. I’ve been an only dog, but previously I have enjoyed meeting other dogs in TALGV’s playgroup. Now please, just let the “sunshine” in, and let it be Me!

NOTE: Sunshine has been social, tolerant, and playful when meeting other dogs in TALGV’s playgroup. She would like to meet any resident dogs before adoption to your home.

Hi… my name is Lady Bird (aka Blue),

Adopted 12-5-23

I shared my home with a couple of kids and 19 cats and dogs. It appears I got along well with all of them! With a full house, several of us had to find new homes. After spending a week in a foster home, as an only dog, I discovered… I LIKED it! My foster mom said, like my name, I was calm and a “Lady” in the house. With a small treat, I’ll willingly go into my crate and sleep quietly all night. I ask to go out, sit when told, and walk well on a leash. I’m strong and need a dog savvy person to teach me how to not react when meeting other dogs. I’m affectionate, love to snuggle and moan when content. You too could be content! Want to snuggle?

Hi… my name is Ghost,

Adopted 2-8-24

To begin with I’d like to say…BOO! Now that’s out of the way, I’ll tell you the story about this “Ghost.” After a stay in foster care, I proved to be a gentle, loving boy who’s friendly with people and enjoys getting attention, running and playing around the yard, and following my “mom” around the house. I’m from a home with children, and 19 other cats and dogs. It appears that I probably got along well with all. I’m crate trained, and once I trust that my person will return, I won’t worry about being left alone. I can use a doggie door and ask to go out. After I take care of business (potty), I walk well on a loose leash. Now I’ve shared my story with you, would you please share your home with me?
