Animal League News

Hi… my name is Neil Purr,

Adopted 9-6-23

How do you suppose I got my name? From my comforting purr? Why don’t you come in to find out? I’m a handsome guy who lost my home when my human mom died. I lived most of my life with her and the pet dog. I was tolerant of children. I have always been somewhat shy around strangers and independent. I like to play with hair bands but no “wild” toys. I prefer my canned food in the morning and the dry kibble in the afternoon. I guess you’d say that I’m a feline whose wishes have been accommodated. Would you like to continue that tradition? Sounds promising to me! Let’s talk about it!

Hi… my name is Smitty,

COMES WITH VET CARE SUPPORT FOR LIFE

When my human mom became ill and could no longer care for me, she brought me to The Animal League. Although sad to lose my home, I am being well-cared for here. Mom said about me: “Smitty is very laid back and sweet.  He loves to walk by you and rub his head on you. He is good with other cats, dogs, turtles, and birds. He’s lazy and loves head scratches and treats. He can sleep anywhere but usually on his cat bed.” Recently, I was diagnosed with diabetes so am in foster care receiving special medical treatment. But, hey, that won’t stop me from loving you! TALGV now gives me vet care support for life. Let’s make arrangements to meet soon.

If you are considering adoption, stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Or you may  call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make an appointment. Kennel hours are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Kunzite,

Adopted 10-2-23

I was a lucky puppy adopted by a lovely family who cherished me. They called me a very tolerant and gentle dog, good with the kids (ages 3 and 10) and very smart. So why am I back here? Because although I got along with the family cat, the older dog there really didn’t like me. But other dogs do!  Since my return, I’ve already lived peacefully with two dogs here. I’m sure I still have things to learn, but in my previous home I was already crate-trained, asked to go outside, and knew some commands. TALGV volunteers say I’m probably still growing, but already have a heart as big as all outdoors. And I say the biggest hope in my heart is for a happy home forever. Could that be with you?

Hi… my name is Banshee,

Adopted 8-20-23

Would you like a miniature butler wearing a tuxedo? If so, that would be me! I have handsome black and white markings and a friendly disposition. I’m a greeter who loves to play with string toys and then sit on your lap. I’ll follow you around and help out with any of your activities.  Wouldn’t you like a companion who dotes on you? Why am I here? Humans in my prior home were allergic to my sister Tie Dye, papa Mandarin, and me, so we were all brought to The Animal League. Although we are not officially bonded, we are used to each other so perhaps you would consider adopting us together? Let’s talk!

Mia

Hi… my name is Mia,

Adopted with Callie 3-2-24

My humans who had me since I was a kitten were moving and couldn’t take me and my feline friend Callie with them. Perhaps that is why my eyes weep at times, but all you have to do is wipe them. I have that unique cauliflower left ear which sets me apart from other cats. I was gentle with children and tolerant of the two dogs. I was shy with strangers due to my laid-back personality. That’s okay, isn’t it? I only need my own human’s lap to be cuddled on. Please come meet me, and let’s see what we can work out.

Hi… my name is Cindy,

Adopted 9-23-23

I wouldn’t say my three pups and I could be considered special delivery, but we did arrive in a crate left outside TALGV, and we are special. At least that’s how we’ve been treated. One of my youngsters has already left for her forever home and it won’t be long before the other two get adopted. Then, of course, there’s me. I can’t wait to find my own forever home. I’m a 2-year-old Rottweiler and since I’ve had my last litter, I’m ready to enjoy the next stage of my life. I enjoy walks with the volunteers and not to brag, I’m pretty good! You might say I’m a mystery since nothing is known about my personal life. If you’re someone who enjoys mysteries, just think of the fun we can share solving mine!

Taz

Hi… my name is Taz (aka Aster),

Adopted with Oreo Cookie 9-5-23

My brother, Oreo Cookie, and I have been patient and gentle with the children who came to visit. Unfortunately, one of them became allergic to us. I’m a purebred Siberian Husky, not quite 2 years old. I’m house, crate, and leash trained. In fact, I walk very well, and I “sit” when told. With your patience, I’d like some further training to learn the rest of the basic commands. My brother and I are a “bonded” pair and need to stay together. We’re good together and always have been! Check out our baby pics online. Talk about cute! Mostly, we enjoy playing with each other and sometimes in “rough” play. Playing ball with our people is always a fun game. Are you game enough to take the “dynamic duo” into your heart and home?

P.S. Yes, those are my baby pictures at the end of the gallery.

Hi… my name is Hoshi,

Adopted 10-7-23

Do you know what I need?  A home of my own where I can perform on center stage! I am a star who performs solo. In my audience: adult humans, perhaps children and dogs, but definitely no other cats! My previous person brought me to The Animal League because I didn’t get along with her cat. I was only there two weeks. She said that I was sweet after I got adjusted, that I was extremely vocal and active, and that I liked to play fetch. If I got over-stimulated, I nipped. I liked to sleep in the living room. Would you like to adopt me before I head to Broadway? I would love you in my audience!

Hi… my name is Pongo,

Adopted 10-13-23

Sad it is to lose your person and your home in one fell swoop, but that is what happened to me when my person had to move into assisted living and couldn’t take me with her. We enjoyed a quiet life together. I’m a gentle Tuxedo cat with handsome markings. I love being petted and brushed. I’m quiet and laid back; yet I love attention. Do those qualities intrigue you to come meet me?  Please do! Although I’m not sure how I got the name Pongo, I understand he is a canine character in Disney’s “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.” I am soulful and serene and long to be happy just being with you. Let’s get acquainted!
