Hi… my name is Merry.

Adopted January 29, 2015.

After visiting the ophthalmologist, they determined that I’m blind and probably have been for quite a while. The doctor said that I’d need eye drops for life to keep my eyes comfortable (but that shouldn’t be an issue since at 10 years of age I come with FREE Vet Care for Life — and eye drops are easy!).  My “disability” doesn’t bother me at all, and I adore walks and am an “excellent lap sitter”!  I was fostered for a few days and found my way around the house just fine.  I should really be an only dog, and everyone agrees I’d be perfect for an older person. My “personal classified ad” might read: “senior dog seeking senior human for companionship!” Why not let it be you?

Merry comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

Hi… my name is Wendy.

Adopted December 12, 2014.

Anyone who’s ever had cholla cactus spines stuck on their fingers knows how utterly awful that is! Well, just imagine having them stuck on your lips and sides! That’s the condition I was in when I was rescued from the Interstate ramp in November. It took quite a bit of doing by the volunteers to get me all “unstuck,” so I’ve been a little “gun shy” ever since, but they’re being extra nice now to make up for it, and say it won’t be long before I forget that ordeal and get on with being a typical, people-loving lady. I’m a Chihuahua girl who, like most of my breed, has just one goal in life: to spend all of my time with my person for many years to come.

Hi… my name is Peanut.

Adopted December 8, 2014.

Yep, the name suits me! But at only 8 pounds, there’s a lot of love packed into this little body! It’s always hard to imagine little guys like me running down busy Nogales Highway, but that’s where I was found, so being in “The Den” at TALGV is about as adventurous as I want to be! The volunteers say that I just “love to be loved,” and that if anyone wants a Velcro lap dog, they couldn’t do better than me. I’m a perfect gentleman on my walks, doing “my thing” when I’m supposed to, and then I’m happy to get back here and have some serious lap time. I’m a young Chihuahua lover who has been here a while now, so I’m hopeful that the holidays will see me under someone’s tree!

Hi… my name is Abrega.

Adopted November 20, 2014.

As many of you probably know, a Chihuahua’s many charms include our small size and outsize personality, but we’re also fully capable of competing in dog sports. More than anything else though, we love being with our people and boy does that go quadruple for me! I have simply never met a lap I didn’t like! I get along okay with other dogs when we’re out playing, but when it comes to my home life, I’d really rather not have to share my person’s affections with any anyone else (they say I’m “single and loving it”!). I was found wandering the streets in Rancho Abrego a while back and while I’m enjoying the attention I get here, I’d sure like to have lots more of it — preferably now!

Hi… my name is Duval.

Adopted November 30, 2014.

Wee thing that I am, I’m so glad that someone saw me tied to a dumpster or I’d have been a goner for sure because I was really sick at the time. Well, I’m all well now and living with a foster mom who says I’m the sweetest thing on four legs. I’m a young longhaired “foxy” mix of Chihuahua and something else adorable. I’m the quintessential lap dog, love all people (my whole body wags when I meet you!), am perfectly crate-trained (but need a bit more work on house training), and prance like a show dog on a leash.  At my age, I’m still very much a puppy, but it won’t take any time at all for me to be the lap-sitting fur ball of your dreams!

Thanks for looking at my pictures. My biography is under construction. Please stop back again to read about me or… even better… stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Kennels are open 10-2 every day.

Hi… my name is Copper.

Adopted November 1, 2014.

Boy, I don’t know what a fella has to do to get noticed around here! I arrived October 1st and have been trying to present my most adorable self to the public ever since! I guess there are just so many of us here that I sometimes get “lost in the shuffle!” My rescuers said, “A large truck dropped this puppy off on the road and we stopped and called him and he responded immediately by coming to us. He has a sweet temperament and is very smart.” I’m an 11-pound, young copper-colored, longhaired Chihuahua mix boy who has a “foxy” look that (I think!) is totally endearing. I love people (especially their laps!), and am a joyous, happy guy who would love to share those traits with you!

Hi… my name is Buster.

Adopted December 6, 2014.

My family adopted me from TALGV when I was eight weeks old and although they loved me to pieces, I wasn’t getting along with the young kids that visited the house (but I was fine with “my own” kids), so I guess a new home is in my future. My people said that I’m loyal, faithful, very protective of my family, and well, just basically a real sweetheart. I’m about 15 months old now and have turned into an eye-catching mix of Corgi (check out the ears and feet) and Chihuahua (a real surprise if you see my baby pictures!). I have perfect house manners (I can use a doggie door and am crate trained), and love being part of the action, so I’m ready made for a home that will appreciate my attributes!

Arrived September 21, 2014.
