Animal League News

Hi… my name is Blueberry,

Adopted with Boysenberry 10-31-19

I’m one of 4 puppies who spent our first 5 months growing up in a back yard. We were fed and looked after but didn’t have much people contact. As we got bigger and were eating more, we were brought to TALGV so we could become socialized with people and find forever homes. On our first day we were so skittish that we didn’t want to be touched. We huddled together and were given our space. It has not taken long to learn that the company of people is about as good as food! We’re still cautious, but warming up. My siblings look like a mix of Labrador and Hound, but I look a lot like a Golden Retriever mix. Who knows? What really matters is I’m full of potential to be just the canine companion you’re looking for!

Hi… my name is Marley,

Adopted 2-25-20

Has earned his Canine Good Citizen certificate

“A wonderful, loving, good boy.” That’s what my friend said after I spent a week with his family. Plus this: “Great with kids, ages 12 and 13; great with our 6-year-old female German Shepherd.” So what went wrong? Cats. I cannot live with cats. I have some food protection issues, too, but the cats were the deal-breaker. My friend was really sad to say good-bye—even wrote a report on what an awesome dog I am, saying that I’m leash trained, good in the house when the owner is gone, know commands, and love everything. It’s true—I love fetch, affection, and just being with people because I have a ton of love to give. I’m a gorgeous, fun-loving boy, and if you’ll give me a chance, I’ll happily bring joy to your days.

Hi… my name is Lucky,

Adopted 1-13-18

Comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

It’s tempting to be philosophical about my name. Was I terribly unlucky to have been abandoned with my son, Buddy, and not found until we were malnourished? Or was I lucky to have been found in time? I opt for lucky because we’re here now, where friends will help each of us find a comfy home with caring, loving people. I’ve been shy with strangers, but a gentle, quiet manner wins me over, (treats help, too), and once we’re okay with each other, I love your soft touch under my chin or petting my head. Easy, slow walks together are wonderful, too. I’m an 11-year-old Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix female with a gorgeous face and golden brown coat, 58 pounds, who comes with FREE Vet Care for Life and a heart yearning to be yours.

Hi… my name is Sandy,

Adopted 2-16-17

Lots of people I’ve met here at the Animal League greet me with “How did a wonderful dog like you get lost?” Isn’t that sweet? Of course, I must reply that I don’t know. Beyond noting that I was found near Walden Grove High School, my history is a mystery. But whatever happened, it gave me the chance to make lots of new friends and their attention sure makes me happy. I’m a Golden Retriever female and you can guess my color—golden—and if you think I’m often smiling, well, I probably am. I may have been a lost dog, but I’m real good at finding the joy in life—and certainly find it in my friends! If you let me into your heart and home, I’ll share that joy with you forever!

Hi… my name is Lacey.

Adopted October 8, 2014.

My family made a commitment to move to Colorado, and since they didn’t yet have a place to live, my “boyfriend,” Weezy, and I couldn’t go along. Mom said I’m a super happy lady who loves to go for walks, know a few basic commands (sit, shake, and slow), and am very tolerant of kids of all ages. She said I’m not fond of strange dogs (although I got along with Weezy just fine), and am very protective of my person and home. I’m a golden Chow/Retriever mix, and if you’d like a settled companion (who also comes with TALGV’s Free Vet Care for Life!), I’d be a perfect fit.
