Hi… my name is Smokey,

Adopted 3-11-17

One night, way past bedtime—about 1:30 a.m.—I was out with my dog friend, Ember. We were lost, running down the road without knowing where to go, so I was greatly relieved when we ended up here (courtesy of the police). I’m a Heeler mix female, almost 2 years old, a real sweetie at 36 pounds. My coat is a beautiful black with some white, very soft, and I hope you think I’m cute, but the best part of me is on the inside. I’m very loving—even giving kisses if you like—and playful; I say toys are good; treats are great! And what do I dream about? A home with you! Make me yours and my whole world will revolve around you. How about we start making each other happy today!

Hi… my name is Ember,

Adopted 4-10-17

Very late one night—about 1:30 a.m.—my dog friend, Smokey, and I were found running on Duval Mine Road. We didn’t know where we were going, so when we ended up here, safe and sound (courtesy of the police), it was a great relief. I’m a Heeler mix male, about 50 pounds and 18 months old, and I love making new friends. (Maybe that’s how I ended up with Smokey, although we don’t know.) When people come to see me, I’m delighted to receive their attention; my focus is totally on the person who notices what a good dog I am, capable of great loyalty. Young and playful, I’m eager to learn what you could teach me. And while they say I’m handsome and charming, what I most want to be is yours.

Hi… my name is Gemini,

Adopted 2-19-17

My four sisters and I were “unwanted puppies.” Luckily for us, TALGV people say they don’t even know what that means—that we’re all wanted and loved! And here’s something else I’ve learned: Being a puppy is the definition of having fun! Plus, we’re good at all kinds of puppy things, like running, jumping, rolling over, and pulling your shoelaces. We also eat well and grow without even trying! I’m Gemini—a female with a white coat and dark gray eye patches, ears, spots, and a very pretty face. I sure hope you love one of us. Okay, honestly, I hope it’s me, but won’t you come see us all? And if you have the time and patience for a puppy, maybe you can give me the best gift ever: My very own home!

My four sisters and I were “unwanted puppies.” Lucky for us, TALGV people say they don’t even know what that means—that we’re all wanted and loved! And here’s something else I’ve learned: Being a puppy is the definition of having fun! We’re already good at lots of puppy things, like running, jumping, rolling over, playing all day, and pulling your shoelaces. We also eat well and grow without even trying! I’m Pisces—a female with a mainly white coat, some gray speckles and gray ears, and allover sweet. I sure hope you love one of us. Okay, honestly, I hope it’s me, but won’t you come see us all? And if you have the time and patience for a puppy, maybe you can give me the best gift ever: My very own home!

Hi… my name is Tommy,

Adopted 2-6-17

Guess where I was found? Behind a vet clinic, lost and scrounging for food. That was a lucky location and, honestly, it was time my luck changed. X-rays at that clinic indicated a fractured pelvis in my past (back when I was a really little puppy), probably from being hit by a car. Fortunately, it healed in a useable manner. Some people may notice a limp, but I get along just fine. I hope you’ll let me show you because then maybe we could play and that’s one of my favorite things. I’m a very loving, sweet Heeler mix male, 8 months old, brown, and 35 pounds. Cars still scare me, but being near people makes me very happy. Take me home and I’ll do my best to make you very happy, too!

Hi… my name is Cupcake (aka Penne),

Adopted 9-24-17

I was originally adopted with another puppy, Icing, and we had lots of fun together. Our family said I loved to snuggle, quickly understood commands to “sit” and “come,” but as a lively pup, I still had lots more to learn. So that’s what I’ve been doing here—training for good manners, learning to walk well on a leash and generally how to please my person. Of note, although I lived with children in the past, these days I’m best with adults only. Now 1-year-old, I’m an energetic and playful male who’d be thrilled to be the new addition to your active life. I’m about 49 pounds, white with tan speckles and spots, and a sweet, handsome face. I’m ready for a lifetime of fun and companionship (including snuggle time, too)—how about you?

Hi… my name is Lucas,

Adopted 5-17-17

My canine buddy Cabo and I know the meaning of true friendship. When we were found at a Circle K, he had a chain collar embedded in his neck and although I couldn’t get it out, I kept licking that site, trying to help. When a veterinarian did remove the chain, we were both relieved! We’re 2-year-old Shepherd/Heeler mix males; I’m black and white, about 46 pounds, and these days each of us is having fun with our new people friends—some of whom teach us helpful dog lessons. Oh, we may bark at strangers at first, but we welcome friendly visitors—sometimes with dog kisses and invitations to play! Won’t you come see? Perhaps we can share the gift of loyalty, a feel-good thing that can last forever and make us all happy!
