I was adopted as a puppy* and spent five years with my family, but when a recent job transfer required a big move, they had to leave me behind. We were all sad to say good-bye, and it’s extra tough for me because sometimes I’m scared of new people. Given a chance, though, I warm up and respond to kindness with kindness. In my previous home, I had fun playing with cats and other dogs, and have always been happy to go on walks. I’m a black and tan Lab/Heeler mix male, who’s used to family life and loves one-on-one time, too; a great fit in almost any household. Please don’t pass me by just because I’m shy. Just think what a grateful, loyal and happy friend I’ll be if you choose me!

Rascal

RASCAL is a handsome 1-year-old, 45-pound Rottie/Heeler mix with a beautiful black and tan coat. He was rescued by owner who has several pets already. He is a healthy boy who is neutered and is up to date on shots. Rascal is good with people of all ages, but he wants to be alpha with other dogs. He loves to fetch. There is no adoption fee. You can tell by my at-attention ears that I’m very interested in the world around me—including you. And I’m glad if you find that charming; in my own quiet, dignified way, I love making a human-dog connection. Just ask the people who gave me shelter when I was lost one rainy winter’s day. In our short time together, they found that I’m obedient to “sit,” “go outside,” and will raise my paw to shake hands. I also walk well on a leash, probably because someone taught me, but also because it’s just in my nature to be a good partner. I’m a young Shepherd/Heeler mix male, about 2 years old, 61 pounds, mainly black, some speckled with white; a striking combination of handsome, smart and lovable, and I’m ready to be all yours.

Madera

It’s pretty clear the way to my heart is with treats and a belly rub! My rescuer spotted me running down a road, near some railroad tracks, and since that was not a safe place for me, she stopped. After she persuaded me to come to her with dog biscuits, I rolled over to suggest a belly rub, and then she brought me to TALGV. I’m an 18-month-old Heeler mix female, black with white markings (including each paw) and upright ears that show how alert I am! I have those great Heeler qualities of being loyal and brave, but I’m also exceptionally calm. My sweet nature is what most of my friends notice, and I hope you will, too, and just maybe that will help me find the way to your heart.
