Animal League News

Hi… my name is Bonnie,

Adopted December 21, 2015

Even lost and injured, I was my own sweet self. That’s what the man said who rescued me from Circle K. They said I stayed close for a few days and would just curl up by the door and wait. Maybe it was because of the wound on my leg that needed stitches. Anyway—and thank goodness!—he brought me to TALGV. Here, my wound was tended and has healed, and I’ve made friends with some great dogs and people. I have those Heeler qualities of being smart, loyal and energetic, and the volunteers say sweetness is my strong suit. I sure hope that helps me find someone to love. I’m a 1-year-old female, 39 pounds, with a gorgeous brindle and white coat. Could you take me home and change my life forever?

Hi… my name is Anya,

Adopted December 5, 2015

I was alone in the desert until a kindhearted family found me. I really liked the little girl who lived there. They said I’m “great with kids,” and had fun playing with the family dogs, too, except the one that didn’t like me! In fairness, I didn’t like their cats. One other thing they noticed: I’m in need of love. Training, too, but we know training goes best with lots of love. I’m a 40-pound female Heeler/Hound mix, black, white and brindle in color, with bright eyes to show how much I’d love to see you. All rooms were full when I arrived, so I’m in a boarding kennel, but TALGV can arrange for us to meet. Just give them a call, and then just imagine how happy we’ll be to see each other.

Hi… my name is Midget,

Adopted November 21, 2015

I lived in a home with three other dogs, but one of the other dogs and I just could not get along. She was there first, so I’m the one who needs to find a new place. I’m a Heeler/Lab mix female, and although I’m on the small side, just about 26 pounds, my family said I’m energetic and strong. If you know Heelers, you won’t be surprised to know I’m hardworking, too; I’m happy with a job, including the one that calls for being your loyal and brave companion. I’m 2 years old, black with white and tan markings, and I’d love the chance to work hard at making you glad you took me home. I’m in foster care, so please let our TALGV friends know that we’d like to meet real soon!

Hi… my name is Zoey,

Adopted October 8, 2015

You may notice my beautiful coat first, the interesting black, grey and white combination. That’s probably thanks to being a Belgian Malinois/Heeler mix, two beautiful breeds. Please notice, too, that I’m still a young girl, just 7 months old, active and eager with lots to learn. When my owner had to move and could not take me, she gave me to someone else, but that didn’t work for either of us. So now I’m here, hoping another someone with love and patience will take me home. I know “sit” and “shake,” and TALGV volunteers are teaching me other things, like how to walk on a leash. I love to play in rain and water from the hose and have a very sweet side, too. Could you be the one I’m longing to meet?

Hi… my name is Blue.

Adopted August 13, 2015

Wouldn’t it be great if dogs always went along when their people moved? My buddy, Bali, and I think so. We lived together, but when our people moved, we didn’t get to go because the new place was smaller and there was no room for us.   Now we’re hoping to find new homes. I’m a 52-pound Heeler male, black, white and tan, and still young enough to have lots of energy and playfulness. Playing ball is one of my favorite things. I know the sit and outside commands, and would love to spend time with you learning more. I think the best thing in the world would be to have a truly forever home. If you have room in your heart and home for me, I would love to be your new best friend.

Po

Hi… my name is Po,

Adopted October 30, 2015

Life hasn’t always been gentle with me—I had signs of recent wounds when found—but my TALGV friends say I’m a dog version of what humans call a gentleman. Maybe that’s due to my easy-going nature and quiet dignity, but I want you to know that I love to have fun, too.   I love car rides, and if one takes us to a community event, I’ll calmly interact with adults, kids, and most other dogs. At age 7 and 59 pounds, I’m still a strong guy, but you have my full attention when we’re walking together and you can count on me to respond to your instructions. I’m curious, alert, and interested in the world around us. How about we meet today to see if we can enjoy this wonderful world together!

Hi… my name is Heather.

Adopted June 26, 2015

Being a stray, no one knows what I might have been called before I arrived at TALGV, but if I do say so myself, I think they picked a perfect name for me! I’m a lovely heathery-colored blue heeler/Aussie mix girl and just as sweet as heather honey! The summer interns who’ve been playing with me say I already know how to fetch and retrieve, and will likely make a great agility dog (heeler/Aussie — what a brainy combo!). I’m cool as a cucumber around other dogs (not an easy feat in this weather!) even when they’re doing their “bark at everyone” thing, so I’m sure I’ll be a “hail fellow well met” kind of girl. I’m about 3 months old and just itching to show you what I can do!
