When I arrived at The Animal League, I had a feeling this is where I was meant to be. I was right! During a recent photo shoot, while posing in my Halloween costume, I showed the folks at TALGV what a natural model I am. I’m a very loving, friendly gal who enjoys treats, and I discovered the only way I can get them is to work for them. I might add I REALLY enjoy my work! I’m friendly and very affectionate, love human companionship, use a doggy door, and am working on my leash walking skills. When you come in to meet me, once I get over my initial excitement, I may show you a few commands I know like: “sit,” “shake,” and “down.” If I can learn all that, just imagine the possibilities once we get home.

I’m a male Heeler/Staffie mix who’s approximately 4 years old. Now, before I go any further I’d like to make something perfectly clear. I’m on the lookout for my “forever home” and believe me, I’m ready! You might be interested in knowing that I have a good disposition and according to a walking companion, I “walk like a dream.” Recently my friend, a volunteer, introduced me to the play yard, and I enjoyed romping around and participating in an enjoyable game of fetch. My foot deformity, due to a past injury, is of no medical concern and doesn’t interfere with my activities. I can use a doggy door, and sometimes I’ll sit when asked. I DO love to see humans happy! As I mentioned, I’m ready to go home! Are you ready to take me?

I was wandering around the UofA research center one day doing some research of my own: mainly for food, shelter, and some company! Lucky for me, a nice officer took me to TALGV where I get all of the above, plus more. I am a young heeler mix lady who really enjoys running and playing. The people here say that I am very sweet and also athletic. I enjoy going out for long walks, and I would love to live with someone who likes those or perhaps goes hiking and will take me along. As a 6-year-old Heeler mix female, I’ve had time to learn a thing or two. For instance, I’m good in the house, leash-trained, can use a doggie door or ask to go out. I know some important commands, including “sit,” “lay,” “heel,” and a couple more. Although not a fussy eater, I am allergic to anything containing chicken or grain. Fortunately, there are several good dog food brands out there that fit the bill for me. As far as friends go, you could call me “a people dog” because I LOVE people, both men and women. But please understand that I do not like other animals, so I must be your one and ONLY. If you’d be content sharing your home with just one pet—one dog who adores you—please let it be me.
