Animal League News

Hi… my name is Garrick (aka Kringle),

Adopted 11-20-24

The thing about puppies: They grow up. Maybe I’m biased, but the best puppies grow up to be big dogs! Unfortunately, that seemed to backfire on me because, through no fault of my own, I grew too big for my family to handle. I’m not sure what that means because I will happily show you how polite and well-mannered I am. I love going on long, leisurely walks where we can enjoy the sights, sounds, and sniffs – the last one is mostly for me – LOL! I’m house-trained (obviously), and I yearn to be near people. I’d love to become a member of your family. Please stop by and meet me; references will be furnished upon request! The thing about big dogs: We always find a way to fit into your heart.

Hi… my name is Snickers,

Adopted 10-8-24

Many dog friends tell interesting stories about their lives before coming to The Animal League. Here’s mine: I was found at a mine tailings site. The End.  OK, just teasing, but all we know for sure is that when found I was alone, scared, hungry and thirsty.  Once safely here, though, I quickly let my true personality shine through. I’m a lively, very playful guy and have shared my run with other dogs, but no cats please! I still prefer to eat alone, and my people friends are helping me learn good-dog lessons, including how to share my toys. For fun-loving me, training is like playing! What else could I ask for?  Just one thing: A home of my own with someone who’ll let me share their happy, active life. Could I be your dog?

COMES WITH VET CARE SUPPORT FOR LIFE

Intelligent, loyal, handsome, playful…just a few words my friends use to describe me. Oh, I forgot “great kisser!” I prefer routine and a quiet life. Social butterflies need not apply. As a discerning gentleman, I need time to build a relationship based on trust. My friends agree I’m more than worth the effort as they are rewarded with the REAL me: Greeting them with a happy dance, favorite toy and love. I should add I have impeccable house manners, too.   have several dog friends at TALGV and enjoy going on walks with them. As with people, I would need time to decide if they should be part of my circle.  The icing on the cake? I come with Vet Care Support for Life! Perhaps “yours” is the word missing from my bio?

Hi… my name is Kooper,

They say the eyes are the windows of the soul. Mine reveal an extraordinary intelligence; you can actually see me thinking things through. I’m initially reserved and respectfully ask new people to wait for my approval. Be assured, once I’ve determined you can be a Kooper Trooper, you’ll learn I’m a playful, friendly and loveable guy. Despite my size, I’m still a pup at heart—especially evident in a room full of toys. Returned to TALGV, I’m on a quest for my forever home with the help of my friends. Here’s the deal: I need time to build trust, but I promise it’s worthwhile. I’m a strong boy and would thrive in a home without young children, as I can be a bit clumsy. Curious to learn more? Just ask for Super Kooper!

If you are considering adoption, please call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make a date to meet me soon. Kennel appointments are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Peach,

Adopted 9-7-24

Maybe you can tell at a glance that I’m a hound dog mix. The deep brown eyes, floppy ears, and rust-colored coat. But it will take a little longer to get to know me because I’m shy around people I don’t know. Sweet but shy. Happily, I’ve made friends with some of the volunteers, who have told me more than once that I’m super smart. Thanks to them, I’m learning basic commands, proper leash walking, and other things good dogs know. For company, I share my run with another dog, and my siblings and I are very good at energetic, fun-filled times in the play yard. Sounds good, right? But one thing is missing.  I long to be someone’s dog, in a forever home where love abides. Could you give this shy dog a chance?

Hi… my name is Nectarine,

Adopted 8-24-24

In my young dog world, it’s always a good time for fun, or food, or a cozy nap. Do I hear you ask about learning time? Well, sometimes the TALGV trainers think they’re sneaking it in, but my siblings and I are wise to that. And happy about it. We like to learn!  Leash walking, basic commands, proper dog manners—it’s all good. And since we’re “super smart hound dogs” (to quote several observant volunteers), we’re up for the challenge of learning more. For me, my natural self-confidence can be another plus. I can be the energetic leader among shyer dogs and have also made friends among TALGV humans. Could you and I be friends, too…maybe even best friends? I’m willing! Let’s meet and see if we could share a happy, active life together.

Hi… my name is Apple,

Adopted 9-14-24

I started life as a baby sister in a litter of hound dog mixes, and it’s been great to have familiar, playful siblings. We still resemble each other—floppy ears, deep brown eyes, rust-colored coats—but now we have individual personalities. Of course, we all like to have fun, even adventures, and we’ve learned lots of good dog things, like leash walking and basic commands. And while TALGV friends say I’m super smart and sweet, I admit to being shy, content with those I know but needing reassurance around strangers. Maybe it takes an extra supply of patience and understanding to adopt a shy dog, but please know that I, too, dream of my very own happy home with someone to love forever. I hesitate to ask but I’m wondering…could you be my someone?

Hi… my name is Samantha (aka Sasha),

What do you call a one-year-old shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging? Furry Flirtypants?  Cuddle Commander? Supreme Snuggler?  Any and all of them would fit. I may be young, but I’m in the process of learning good manners, both in a home and out on walks with my human friends. I’m an adventurous and active girl who loves exploring the world around me with my favorite people. I dream of finding a forever home where I can share my boundless affection and bring joy to everyone I meet. With my loyal spirit I know I’ll make the perfect addition to a loving family. Are you the one who will help me on my journey to become the BEST girl I can possibly be?

Adopted 4-17-24

PIPER is a smart, playful, and obedient 2-year-old, 35-pound, Lab/Hound mix female who needs a new home. She is crate trained, leash trained, and house trained but her limit for being alone is about 8 hours. She quickly learns, enjoys training, and obeys commands “sit,” “down,” “side,” and “kennel.” She is in good health, spayed, up to date on shots, and medical records are available. Piper is energetic and loves long walks, playing fetch and with her toys. She is good with other dogs and small children; cats are unknown. There is no adoption fee. If you will welcome Piper into a loving home as part of your family, please call Dominique between 8 AM and 8 PM at 520-891-5735.

Hi… my name is Lucky,

Adopted 1–20-24

“He truly has been an amazing dog!” That’s a quote from my foster mom. I got along well with the resident dogs, but unfortunately, not the cat! Otherwise, I might have made a good addition to the family. During meals I showed no food aggression and politely “sit” when served. I love playing a game of tug-of-war and with my chew toys. I have also been willing to share. I’m potty trained, use a doggy door, and sleep all night in my bed. Barking is not something I do a lot, unless I’m invited to join a “canine chorus,” then my bark would make any watch dog proud. I’m still a sweet, easy-going puppy at heart. I know you’ve heard the phrase, “get lucky,” well this Lucky is ready to get a new home, and if you’re ready to get lucky, I’m ready to go home!
