Animal League News

Hi… my name is Herbie,

adopted 4-7-24

I’ve been asked to tell you my story and I’m glad to do it. I’m a dog. I like having a job. There’s just one problem. I was found running down a busy road and I don’t remember much before that. For now, I’ll just say a big thank you to the kind woman who stopped for me and brought me safely here. Since then, I’ve made lots of new Animal League friends.  One of them taught me how to “sit” on my first day! Another time, I solved a dog puzzle and was told that I’m as smart as I am handsome! Did I mention I’m just 1 year old? Fun-loving and fun to have around, I’d like to make friends with you, too. Who knows? We might start our own story together!

Hi… my name is Midnight,

Adopted 4-7-24

Elvis got it wrong. While I’m thought to be a hound-mix, I certainly don’t go “crying all the time.” I prefer to go on sniffaris to inspect the wonderful scents. I was found without any ID and started hanging around a nice lady’s home where lots of other dogs lived. She kindly fed me while looking for my people.  Unfortunately, nobody came for me, so now I’m with my new friends at the Animal League where I’m safe and cared for. I do get scared if other dogs bark at me; however, I’m building up my bravery. What I’d like more than anything is to get out of this place and find my own family, but I’m told I need to wait for people to come to me. Darn! Will you please show up soon!

Hi… my name is Freckles,

Adopted 8-5-23

With ears like mine, one MUST have a sense of humor.  I’ve heard I remind people of a long-ago TV show: The Flying Nun.  Whatever. I can’t fly, but I DO have what all puppies and dogs have: the ability to make you fall in love with me. I have lots of love to give – especially if you can provide me what puppies require: Exercise, Training, Socialization, etc. If you have other playful dogs and even cats, all the better! I may grow into my oversized ears, or maybe not. Seriously though, have you ever seen such a cute guy? Aside from the other available dogs at TALGV, I mean – LOL!  Maybe you’ll find room in your home and heart for me and my ears? Call and set up an appointment to meet me soon!

Hi… my name is Scout,

Adopted 4-20-23

When people found me roaming around in the area near the Dollar Tree, it was already after hours at TALGV. Since they didn’t want to leave me in the parking lot, they invited me to stay the night with them and their family dog. I’m a happy, outgoing boy and I’ve had no problem making friends. I like everyone! I may have had previous training because I walk pretty well on a leash, “sit” when told, and possibly know more commands. Just ask me! I’m at my happiest when I get regular mental stimulation and exercise. I enjoy a challenge! I’m very intelligent and energetic, so continuing training and participation in activities would make me one happy dog. So would a home of my own with a family who shares my enthusiasm for life!

Hi… my name is Roxanne,

COMES WITH VET CARE SUPPORT FOR LIFE

Shortly after I was rescued and taken to TALGV, I moved into a foster home. I know basic commands, and let you know when I need to go out to potty; routine helps. I even found my own personal spot in the backyard for that purpose! I sleep all night on my own bed, enjoy sitting on the couch, don’t play with toys, and love going for car rides and walks. I walk well on a leash but react, by pulling very hard, when meeting “small” dogs. I need a strong walker and probably a home without any “small” pets. It’s important to note that I come with Vet Care Support for Life. I’m a sweet, well-behaved girl who’s  patiently waiting for you to take me home. Did I say patiently? Please hurry!

Hi… my name is Libby,

Adopted 10-30-22

I’m a happy, adorable Hound/Staffie mix, and at my age (about 9 months) I’m ready and eager to learn. This usually takes a touch of human patience, and being a healthy youngster, with a lot of puppy energy to burn off, I’d appreciate your firm but loving  guidance. I need to continue my education, and it appears that I’m a pretty good student, because I’m already learning some basic commands like: “off,” “sit,” and “down” (occasionally). I recently passed the cat test, can use a doggie door, but may need some house training. I also need leash training, and once that’s accomplished we’ll both be able to enjoy our walks, and explore exciting places together. When I say “both,” I’m referring to you and me! So won’t YOU please take ME home?

Hi… my name is Pappy,

Adopted 8-23-22

Papago Road exit leads off I-19 to nowhere, and that’s exactly where I was headed. Fortunately a good Samaritan found me lying under a tree. I was too sick and weak to stand, so he picked me up, put me in his car, and drove me to TALGV for help. After a trip to the vet, and a short stay, I was returned to TALGV. I’m an approximately 5-month-old hound/staffie mix boy, who finally can see a bright future ahead. Now all I need is a caring person, hopefully you, to adopt me and take me home. I can see it now, a home of my own, a loving family, and lots of toys for me to play with. What more could a puppy wish for? You to grant my wish!

Hi… my name is Winston,

Adopted 9-3-22

It’s bad enough when people throw litter from their cars, but it’s carrying things too far when they throw out an innocent puppy. That would be me, Winston! Thankfully someone saw what happened and came to my aid. When it was decided I was okay, I was invited to stay with the nice people until they brought me to TALGV. They said I’m a very sweet boy who got along with their cats and small dogs. I even sat when told (sometimes). After all, I’m only about six months old! Naturally I’ll need training to help me become a well-mannered adult. Right now I’m just a wiggly, playful, happy pup that would really appreciate a forever home, filled with love. Why don’t you visit  and spend some time getting to know me. You won’t be sorry!
