Why doesn’t every neighborhood welcome dogs? Three years ago my littermate and I were adopted as pups. Life was blissful and we were cherished members of a loving family. Unfortunately, circumstances changed and my family had to move to one of those places that doesn’t allow dogs. I dream every night of a family who sees the friendly, playful, polite, obedient, and handsome young guy I am, and decide to make me part of their family. It will be my “Happily Ever After!” While I wait I’ve made both human and canine friends. I adore car rides, especially ones that end with a ‘pup cup’ —I’ve even mastered ordering at drive-thrus! Like the other dogs, I’m here through no fault of my own. Three years ago, my littermate and I were adopted as pups. We had a wonderful life! Then something changed and my family had to move to one of those places that doesn’t allow dogs. Why do such places exist? How boring! So, I am back at TALGV and trying my best to catch the attention of shelter visitors. While I’m a little shy, I do enjoy meeting people and am friendly and polite with other dogs. PIPER is a smart, playful, and obedient 2-year-old, 35-pound, Lab/Hound mix female who needs a new home. She is crate trained, leash trained, and house trained but her limit for being alone is about 8 hours. She quickly learns, enjoys training, and obeys commands “sit,” “down,” “side,” and “kennel.” She is in good health, spayed, up to date on shots, and medical records are available. Piper is energetic and loves long walks, playing fetch and with her toys. She is good with other dogs and small children; cats are unknown. There is no adoption fee. Aren’t I pretty in pink? Well, the truth is, I’m effortlessly stunning regardless of any color palette I’m wearing. My nickname could be “bee-bop,” as that’s what I like to do in the comfort of my foster home, where I take pride in my refined manners such as being housetrained and only playing with my toys instead of any of my foster family’s belongings. As for more talent, Esther Williams has nothing on me as I will happily splash around in a play pool.

(Okay, so synchronized swimming might be a stretch, but my charm makes up for it!)

When people say humans and dogs belong together, I want to reply a hearty “thank you” because that’s how I feel, too. Truth be told, I love human attention and affection, and I’m happy to give as much as I receive. When my person had to go overseas and I came here, I hoped to make new friends quickly. Lucky for me, that’s what happened! Granted, the volunteers report that I need some guidance on manners (such as knowing when not to jump and leash training), but they describe me as eager to please, very sweet and friendly. I love to play and at my former home was good with kids and lived peacefully with another dog. If you’re friendly too, please stop by for a visit. We might decide to be friends forever!

Midnight

Elvis got it wrong. While I’m thought to be a hound-mix, I certainly don’t go “crying all the time.” I prefer to go on sniffaris to inspect the wonderful scents. I was found without any ID and started hanging around a nice lady’s home where lots of other dogs lived. She kindly fed me while looking for my people. Unfortunately, nobody came for me, so now I’m with my new friends at the Animal League where I’m safe and cared for. I do get scared if other dogs bark at me; however, I’m building up my bravery. What I’d like more than anything is to get out of this place and find my own family, but I’m told I need to wait for people to come to me. Darn! Will you please show up soon!

Cowboy

My mom is moving to Europe and she wanted to make sure I’d find the perfect new home. I’m a sweet, young, male Greyhound/Lab mix who’s great with other dogs and children ages 8-16 years, but not very small children. I’m somewhat cautious with new visitors and don’t know about cats! I’m very quiet and relaxed and behave well in the house. I’m crate trained and spend time there when left alone. By ringing a bell, I alert you to when I need to go out, and I can use a doggie door. I’m leash trained and know the commands “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “shake.” I was shy when I arrived, but now I know I’m safe with friends, who are sharing their loving care…until you take me home.
