Max

Hi… my name is Max,

Adopted 8-25-17

There are tiny doggies and then there’s me: A 140-pound, 6-year-old brindle Mastiff male. Take me for a walk and strangers may smile and wave, apparently so impressed by my size. But I’m used to it—I just grew this way! Plus, for years I’ve lived with Oreo, a 32-pound Bassett Hound, so I know how to share my space. I’m a sweet, easy-going guy, but remember the big part—a strong walker on your end of the leash is a good idea. I need a new home due to the health concerns of our former person, who left word that I’ve been gentle and tolerant with youngsters (ages 6-17), am leash trained, and “ask” to go outside. So if there’s room for a big love in your life, I’m the guy for you.

Hi… my name is Tess,

Adopted 4-28-17

I was found in the Rancho Sahuarita area, a beautiful, tan Lab/Mastiff mix female in need of a friend. I was too thin, had a significant cut on the inside of my right hind leg, and didn’t know who to trust. Fortunately, my rescuer brought me here, where my wound has been tended, the food is nutritious, and—the best part—I’m enjoying the company of my new human friends. I know they’re my friends because they take me for walks, spend time with me, and they see that I have the makings of a great companion. Inside my somewhat big body (about 68 pounds), there’s an even bigger heart that’s yearning to belong to someone, to be the loyal and loving dog of someone who loves me back. Could you be the one?

Hi… my name is Pearl,

Adopted 3-10-17

I was found near a local self-storage unit. Why there? Could be I just wandered that far. In any event, I was lost, but, fortunately for me, easy to find. At 83 pounds, I’m hard to miss—big and amazingly gentle. Maybe you’ve known other dogs like me—large-size sweethearts! For me, that means I can stay calm in a commotion, greet visitors sweetly, and if you’d rather mosey than race, that’s okay with me. On the other hand, I’m still young—just 2 years old—so I also love to play and have fun. I’m black and tan, with one of the friendliest faces you could ever hope to see. So won’t you come for a visit? And if we find each other irresistible, I’m ready to be your big gentle dog forever!

Epi

Hi… my name is Epi (aka Epione),

Adopted July 30, 2016

I can’t fault my people for giving me up because they didn’t have time for me. It’s not fun being lonely, without enough love and attention, so I appreciate their concern. Also, they shared lots of the good things they know about me, saying I’m very sweet, love to cuddle, and know commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “outside.” The volunteers here like me, too, noting that I’m nicely calm for a 9-month-old puppy, and how they enjoy my affectionate nature. Guess you could say I’m a puppy who loves to be loved! I’m 9 months old, 36 pounds, an Aussie/Mastiff mix female with a distinctive brindle coat. I love rope toys, playing with balls, and, most of all, people. And I’ll be the happiest dog around when you make me yours!

Sam

Hi… my name is Sam,

Adopted October 10, 2015

If you’re looking for “big, old softies,” come meet me! I was adopted in December 2014 but am now back at TALGV through no fault of my own. Last year I was found on Sahuarita Road, and I’ve got to tell you it’s sure swell being out of harm’s way and getting three squares a day! I’m a “glutton for attention” they say, and despite my size, I’m really an “easy walker.” I’m a black, 90-pound, Mastiff mix, and have a squiggly tail that will enchant you as much as my personality. I know that any family that has a home with space for a big guy like me will be all the happier with me in it! You just have to meet me to find out!

PS Thanks to recent owner for providing “goofy” photos of Sam.

Hi… my name is Herbie,

Adopted November 8, 2015

When my little Chihuahua buddy and I were lost, I was glad to keep an eye on him. Must be the Mastiff in me that makes me such a nurturing kind of guy. Now, happily, my buddy’s been adopted, and I’m ready to give my heart and attention to someone new. I’m a big guy but not overwhelmingly so, right around 75 pounds, with a rich-copper color coat, and I’m very calm when walking on a leash alongside my person. If you ask me, I’m a great size for a snuggle, and enjoying that is in my loving nature, too. People talk about my sweet charm and quiet dignity, and I appreciate those lovely words, but most of all, I want to hear someone say, “let’s go home.” Could that someone be you?

Hi… my name is Chrissy.

Adopted February 14, 2016

Things changed in my once-happy home and my people can no longer give me the attention I need. We’re hoping someone else will have more time to share and we can be happy together. I’m already have some important dog lessons down pat; I know “sit,” “come,” “stop barking,” and “lay down.” Since they call me a Greyhound/Mastiff mix, you won’t be surprised to know that I like to run—sometimes very fast. I also like to play with squeaky toys. It’s been tough for me to leave the only home I remember, but I did get into mischief when left alone so much and so I need a good friend. I’m a beautiful brindle female, and if you have the time and patience, I can be your faithful companion.

Hi… my name is Titan.

Adopted September 28, 2014.

My pictures make me look a lot bigger than I am (especially since they think I’ve got a bit of Mastiff or maybe St. Bernard in me!), but I only weigh about 45 pounds, so you get “the look” without the gigantic size! I was found running with another dog on River Road in Rio Rico so your guess is as good as mine as far as my life before TALGV. But the volunteers say that I’m a gentle, shy, loving guy who just wants to be someone’s constant companion. If you’re familiar with my “guessed-at” breeds, you’ll know that we’re “extremely gentle, friendly and very tolerant, patient, obedient, extremely loyal, eager and willing to please.” (Sounds sort of like the Boy Scout motto doesn’t it?) At any rate, please come meet me and see for yourself!

Arrived September 5, 2014.

Hi… my name is Fred.

I was adopted July 16, 2014.

Okay, they say I’m rambunctious. Well, at only 6 months old I’m a big guy already, so between the exuberance of youth and a bit of heft, I must admit I am a handful.  But oh what a happy, people-loving handful! My dad adopted me when I was an 8-week-old and he was working on my training, but sadly he developed an illness that severely limited his physical abilities. I stayed with his brother for a while, but he had small kids and although I enjoyed them, my enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming. I’m an imposing black Lab/Mastiff mix boy who knows a few commands, walks well on leash, and am “easily trainable,” so I’ve got a good start on the basics already. Won’t you help me round them out in my own home?
