Animal League News

Hi… my name is Luca,

Before he passed, my dad asked his caregivers to find new homes for my friend Gorda and me. After a couple of weeks we were brought to TALGV to find our new forever homes. Like Gorda, I was also afraid and confused, but we had each other for support while adjusting to the changes. I’m cautious, but I warm up quickly. Then you’ll find out what a loving, friendly boy I can be. I enjoy going for walks and really love getting belly rubs. There’s nothing I enjoy more than being lavished with all the attention I can get. If you’re looking for an exceptional roommate to be your faithful companion for life, look no further, I’m right in front of you!

If you are considering adoption, please call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make a date to meet me soon. Kennel appointments are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is (Miss) Stevie,

Adopted 11-13-22

Since arriving at TALGV I’ve acquired many new friends, including my roommate. I can be shy, but I usually warm up pretty fast. My trainer, who thinks I’m a “wonderful dog,” took me home to see how well I behave. I think I did great! I know the meaning of commands: sit, lay down, stay, come, leave it, no and off (furniture). Once you adopt me, you can set (and enforce) your own house rules. I’m strong and may occasionally pull, but I walk well on leash. I sleep all night in a crate, enjoy playing with toys, and am familiar with doggy doors. I’m house broken, but until you learn my “tell” you’ll need to put me out regularly. Confidentially, when you take me home, I might show YOU my ”tell.”

NOTE: Stevie has been social, tolerant, and playful when meeting other dogs in TALGV’s playgroup. She would like to meet any resident dogs before adoption to your home.

Hi… my name is Paul,

Adopted 5-29-22

Four of us were found together, all boys, and brought to TALGV in April. Someone had the clever idea that we could be the Fab Four. Now, Iam much too young to understand what that means, but perhaps you do. In any case, I think I got the coolest name! That’s Sir Paulto you, thank you! Mom and Dad were pretty big dogs, Rottweiler or Shepherd, I think, so I’ll probably grow into a big dog too. (If not, my paws are way too big!) We’ve been told we must find ourselves “forever home”, a place where we can play and run and have someone teach us good doggie manners. Two of our siblings have already done that. Now it’s my turn! Do you have a forever home for me?

Hi… my name is Jinx,

Adopted 12-5-20

Any day that involves a field trip is my favorite day. I love riding in a car and traveling to exciting new places. Once there, I enjoy all the new sights and smells and spending time with someone special. I’m a good looking 2-year-old male Rottie mix with soulful eyes. I use a doggy door, know the command “sit” and can learn so much more. In the kennel I seem shy and timid, but once out, I’m a different boy altogether. I didn’t get along with the dog in my last home, but I’m not sure I should be blamed for that. If you’re looking for a companion to share your travels, please call for an appointment to meet me. I could very possibly be the one for you.

Hi… my name is Southland,

Adopted 9-19-20

I am a young Rottie/Heeler girl of medium size. When you first meet me, I act a bit shy, but give me a few minutes and you will see the gentle, loving side of me. Just look at my eyes! I have been around small children and they say I was good with them and also that I behaved well when I was left alone in the yard. I still need to learn a few things, like how to tell you when I need to go potty and how to walk better on a leash. I would really like to go home with someone who can help me become more confident and show me that I don’t need to be afraid of strangers. If that is you, will you come to meet me soon?

Hi… my name is Buster,

Adopted 7-9-18

I like to take life in the peaceful, friendly lane. Oh, I still adhere to my good-dog duties, but in my own sweet way. For instance, my former owner said I would bark and growl to let you know a stranger was approaching, “but when the person gets close, he’ll love on them.” Recently, that positive attitude has stood me in good stead as I’ve dealt with two challenges. First, I lost my home. My previous owner is driving an 18-wheeler now and couldn’t take me along. Next, I needed medical care for heartworm, which took some time but I’m very glad to report that I successfully completed the treatment. Now, more than ever, I’m ready for the best part of life—a happy future with someone fun, loving, and kind. Is that you?

Hi… my name is Stella,

Adopted 10-24-17

Friendly and sweet, active and adventurous—I hope you like that combination because those words describe me! After my buddy Lobo (a Husky/Shepherd mix) and I escaped from their place, our people decided to bring us here so we could find a home where we’d be more likely to happily stay put. My former people said I was gentle and tolerant with children (ages 9 to 16)—indeed, they said I “love children”—and got along with other animals. I’m friendly here, too, playful, and enjoying the attention. They call me a Rottie mix female, but I have a slender build and weigh just 53 pounds at 10 months. These days, true to my sweet nature, I’m eager to be someone’s loyal and loving companion forever. Could you and I be the perfect combination?

Hi… my name is Giblet,

Adopted 6-20-17

Giblet has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

People say I’m very smart, which is why I understand that at 99 pounds, I’m not everyone’s idea of a lap dog. (Unless you say it’s okay, in which case I’m great with it!) I am designed to be a super companion. With my former family, I was gentle and tolerant with the kids (ages 4 and 18), got along with the dog and cat, and was “sweet with everyone.” Unfortunately, they don’t have time for me now, and alone in the back yard, I talked to (barked at) the neighbors. So, if you do have time for an energetic, playful guy like me—a 2-1/2-year-old who already knows commands like sit, stay, easy, down, and more—I’m ready and able to share big fun, adventures, and a lifetime of happy days with you!
