Hi… my name is Rocket,

Adopted 6-16-19

After just 3 months together, my person’s job took him out of state and I came here. That was a tough break because I’d been a good boy. I’d gotten along with the two cats at home, was gentle and tolerant with the kids there (ages 11 and 13), and stayed with a senior member of the family. With them, I was “very quiet” and “very attentive.” You know why? Because I’m happy in the company of people. Oh, I’m cautious with strangers, but once acquainted, we can be good buddies. I’m an 8-year-old who’s good on a leash and knows how to “ask” to go outside. With me, you’ll have a nice medium-size dog who’ll be loyal to you forever. Please let me show you what a good boy I can be!

Hi… my name is Molly,

Adopted 2-11-18

I came from a place with too many dogs, according to the landlord, and we were living outside. Perhaps it was that experience that made me a wee bit shy, but soon after arriving here, I started showing my true colors: friendly, sweet, and exceptionally kind. Here at TALGV, there was a shy dog needing to share a run with a dog who’d be good to her and so the volunteers chose me. We’ve gotten along beautifully and have lots of fun together because along with being good-natured, I’m playful, too. A nice size at 40 pounds, I’m a 2-year-old Lab/Shar-Pei mix female—a tan and white cutie with adorable ears (so they tell me), I’ll make a great addition to a happy, loving home. Let’s meet soon and see if we belong together!

Hi… my name is Bruce (aka Buddha),

Adopted 1-27-19

Things were great at home until my people realized how much they wanted to travel and how often they’d be boarding me to do that, leaving me sad and lonely. So a new home is best, a place to give and get lots of people attention—which I love! At home, I was crate-trained, gentle and tolerant with kids ages 8 and older, and “asked” to go outside. Here at TALGV, my trainer says I’ve come a long way in learning to be nonreactive to other dogs, I’m treat-motivated, love belly rubs and my chew toy, and would be best with someone who gives me direction in a positive manner because I’m still a puppy at heart! She also said I’m one in a million—adorable and smart—and all I want to be is yours!                                                                                    (Bio revised 8/6/18)

Hi… my name is Nugget (aka Katie),

Adopted 5-21-18

Some people describe Shar-Pei dogs as having a “hippopotamus” muzzle. That’s what I call distinctive and fun, which I like to think describes me to a T. I’m an 8-year-old blonde Shar-Pei female, just 33 pounds but with a sturdy build, and a calm and confident personality. I’m friendly to people, always happy to go for a walk, and leash-trained. At my former home, I darted out of the door one time and was hit by a car, so my trainers are helping me learn sit/wait at doorways. (I’d say I’m doing pretty well with that.) Now, I can’t speak for everyone, of course, but I believe a dog’s life is far better with people. And vice versa. If you agree, I hope you’ll make us both very happy by making me yours today.

Hi… my name is Buddy,

Adopted 7-14-19

Buddy comes with Vet Care Support for Life

After my dear owner died, her daughter said this about me: “Buddy needs to know someone loves him. I don’t think he had a very good life before my mother adopted him.” But once I was with her, my life was blessed with care and understanding. I had two doggie housemates and our person loved us all! Now, alone again, I have some concerns. I’m head shy and sensitive to touch of my hind end, maybe from past injuries; please understand it’s not personal. We don’t know if I’d get along with other dogs now, and we don’t think I should be in a family with children. Most of all, I need kindness, patience, and the freedom to be me—an 11-year-old male, 59 pounds, who has learned what love is. May I share it with you?

Hi… my name is Bubba (aka Marmaduke),

Adopted 1-14-18

Bubba has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Here at TALGV, I’ve been dubbed “The Poster Boy for Big Dogs!” That’s because I’m so well behaved and fun at community events—friendly, responsive, calm amid the excitement, walk well in my harness and ride well in the car. All 90 pounds of me! At home, my former people said, I was housebroken, cuddly, obedient, and got along with their cat. I do guard food and toys from other dogs and even cats, so please be aware of that. But I’m very people friendly, always delighted to see my human friends, and as further proof of my excellent manners, I’ve earned my AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. So that’s me, a big guy trying his best to be loveable, so that maybe you’ll say the happiest thing ever—that I can be yours!

Hi… my name is Rupert,

Adopted 8-25-17

Some people think I have a distinguished look and manner, as though I have wise thoughts to share. Others tell me I’m just plain adorable to look at and to know. I say, happily, both can be true! When I was found lying on the side of Helmet Peak Road, my finder knew only that I was a lost dog and she very kindly rescued me. Here at TALGV, the volunteers have gotten to know me and they’re now my friends—complimenting me for being sweet, friendly, and great company. I’m a tan Shar-Pei mix male, about 5 years old, 79 pounds, generally calm and easygoing, with one very special dream: A forever home where I’ll always be loved. Imagine how devoted I’ll be if you’re the one to make my dream come true.

Hi… my name is Snookie,

Adopted 5-8-17

You could say my daughter, Pookie, and I arrived here via a winding road. Along the way, there was a divorce, a move, and a friend who couldn’t keep us. Fortunately, we’re both calm and easy-going; we took these changes in our stride. I’m 5 years old, a compact medium size at 50 pounds, with a tan coat and the remarkable Shar Pei wrinkles and adorable face. (Pookie and I’ve literally stopped traffic here at TALGV because people wanted to see us up close, and you want to know a secret: I kinda love that!) I’m friendly, good on a leash, and happy to be absolutely loyal to the person who loves me back. If that could be you, let’s meet soon because if you think I’m special, I think you’re even more so!
