Hi… my name is Kira,

Adopted 4-4-20

I first arrived at TALGV after I was found near Santa Cruz Valley Hospital. A short time later I was adopted and went to live with a family who already had a resident dog, a 14-year-old male. It could be I wanted to get his attention, but by my being a little too pushy, we just didn’t get along. Then I was returned, along with compliments from my previous owner. It was pointed out that I’m very friendly and love to be petted and cuddled. I also love my walks, playing fetch, my chew toys, and of course….treats. I may use the doggie door and can sit, but I obviously need further behavior training to complete my education. If you have the time and patience and you’re looking for love, look no further; I’m here!

Hi… my name is Eva,

Adopted 7-12-20

Has earned her Canine Good Citizen certificate.

My outlook is happy since spending time with Foster Mom, who says that other than my one or two “quirks,” I am “the perfect dog!”  She says I learn new things quickly, including commands, I’m completely housetrained, walk well on a leash, and sleep all night (preferably in her bed).  My crate training is improving; it’s where I eat my meals.  I love being outside, and being close to “Mom;” seldom bark outside and “leave it” when told.  I’m still reactive to some dogs but we’re working on that.  And I really need help learning to be good when home alone.  My ideal person is home most of the time, with a secure place for me when you’re gone.  If you could give me that AND love, I’ll give you much more in return.

Hi… my name is Daisy,

Adopted 1-19-20

Like my brother, Izzy, I too am good looking, or should I say pretty? I thought our family was only going to be gone for a short time. That short time seemed like an eternity. Even though we were abandoned, we were, thankfully, taken care of. We even got used to children being around. As my brother says, we are “sweet but untrained,” and, oh yes, we would probably be happy to learn for someone who would be willing and patient. Did I mention we are pretty good on a leash, and that we both enjoy our daily walks together with friends? Now, three months later, we are once again in a different home. A good place for now, but we both want a home that means forever.

Hi… my name is Missy,

Adopted 12-11-19

When I was about a year old, I was having quite an adventure roaming the streets. Then someone found me and brought me to TALGV. I barely had time to settle in when two lovely ladies took me home. It was there I met the two resident cats and we all became one happy family. I learned the basic commands and how to walk well on a leash. My people said I am very affectionate and I am good at letting them know when I have to go out. I really enjoy playing in the yard, chasing my toys and being brushed, but I’m not a fan of sunglasses. I am also crate trained. Unfortunately, my family had to relocate and dogs were not permitted in their new home. Do you have a dog-friendly home?

Hi… my name is Snoop,

Adopted 12-1-19

Before coming here, my life changed and even became kind of scary! My former people moved away and left me alone in the yard with my canine buddy, King. (King and I are probably related and are definitely friends.) Fortunately, the TALGV volunteers have given me time to realize that they are going to feed us, take care of us, and show us how much fun people can be. (I gladly learned the regular food thing right away, and the fun part came quickly, too.) I’m a Shepherd mix male; new friends tell me I’m quite handsome, and although I don’t notice it much, they seem to especially like my curly tail. As a young, very friendly, easy-going guy in medium-size package, I’d love to be your happy, active, loyal best pal.

Before coming here, my life changed and even became kind of scary! My former people moved away and left me alone in the yard with my canine buddy, Snoop. (Snoop and I are probably related and are definitely friends.) Fortunately, the TALGV volunteers have patiently let me figure out that they’re going to feed us, take care of us, and show us how much fun people can be. I’m learning how to trust people and to love being safe and cared about. I’m a handsome Shepherd mix male, a kind of stocky build at around 50 pounds, and although I like to relax, my ears are always in the alert position—you might think “radar ears!”  Going for walks and training is fun, but most of all, I want to be your pal.

Hi… my name is Rosita,

Adopted 11-18-19

If you’re looking for a medium size female dog who is happy-go-lucky, gentle with children, good with other dogs, loves people, is housetrained and crate trained, that’s me! For this first year of my life I was raised and loved by a family with 3 children and an older dog. I’m grateful for the life I had with them, but something changed, and they felt I deserved more time than they could give me. My former dad described me as playful, energetic, and loving. How would you like to share your life and time with a companion who’s full of the joy of living?

Hi… my name is Duke (aka Scooby),

Adopted 12-3-19

Duke has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

“One awesome dog” is how I was described by my former people, but with a growing family, there was less space and less time for me. That’s OK; I know I’m a large athletic guy with a big personality to match. I earned my Canine Good Citizen certificate before I was 3, but a little reinforcement on that would be a great way for us to get to know each other. Folks here say I am strong, but I walk well on leash with a little correction. I am very eager to please and will come when you call me. I am very energetic, playful and extra eager to be somebody’s best pal. If I get lonely, I can jump a fence, but will do well in your active life, where my best friends are at home!

Hi… my name is Whiskey,

Adopted 11-5-19

If you are looking for a big, sweet and playful companion, I’m your dog! I haven’t met many strangers, so when you come to visit me, I may be a little nervous at first. But if you let me sniff your hand and give me a few minutes to get to know you, we can be best friends in no time! I especially like it when people scratch my butt, and I will gladly roll over for a tummy rub! I lived with my first family for the last six years. They said that I am housebroken, know sit and stay, and was gentle with their new baby. I’d like to find someone who will take time to play with me and take walks, but, most importantly, who will love me forever!

Hi… my name is Krystal,

Adopted 9-24-19

As soon as we meet, I will shower you with love! That is just who I am: a regular love bug! I love to cuddle with people, but I also like my walks with the volunteers to look around and explore. I am a white shepherd, and everyone agrees I am gorgeous. My best friend Queenie and I were found alone walking near the interstate. I am still sad about losing my people, but Queenie is such a comfort! If you come to see me, I will roll over for belly rubs and thank you with lots of kisses. And if you have room in your home and in your heart for both of us, we promise to love you forever!
