My siblings and I were born and found living under a trailer. Our little spot was in the shade, but not a place where we could grow up, and the person nearby already had several dogs. So we came here; happy, fun-loving puppies ready for life’s next big adventure! We’re already very good at puppy things—eating, playing, rolling on top of each other—and with time, patience and attention from loving people, we can also become good at the things that will someday make us delightful, well-trained grown-up dogs. Recently I spent a week with people who loved me but couldn’t keep me. The family included a teenager, a St. Bernard, and two cats. I got along with all of them—dog, cats, and people—so I could fit into any one of many different households. Those friends also said I know lots of commands, come when called, am housebroken and leash trained. I’m called a gorgeous Lab/Shepherd mix, but I’m a humble guy—just call me “Red”—and trusting people is hard for me. Fortunately, I love other dogs! We have great fun together and I watch and learn from them. In my foster family, my best dog friend taught me how to use the doggie door, eat around people and other dogs, and even how to let people be affectionate with me. Turns out, it can be awesome! Bear has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.
I was lost, so when I saw a man walking his dog, I followed. He praised me for being friendly and trusting, and brought me here. Then I was adopted and my people said many good things about me: “mellow and playful, great on a leash,” “great with kids,” and I got along with their poodle/terrier. (I’m not so good with cats.) However, they said I was scared of loud noises and some men, protective of my owner, and they wanted me to have a different home. Volunteers here welcomed me back with open arms, thanks especially to my loveable personality. To prove my excellent manners, I’ve earned the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen certificate! A 3-year-old male, black and tan, 85 pounds, I’m really hoping I’m the guy you’ll love, too!
