I guess I’m well named, because I’m pretty much what it implies — a big, silly, 50-pound puppy! I wandered into the yard of family on the far reaches of Sahuarita Road one day and never left. They put up “found” posters, but after three weeks of no response, they brought me here to TALGV so I could find the home of my dreams. I’m having a blast playing with my new doggie buddy, and I warmed up in a flash to all the volunteers. Although I‘ve probably never had any real training, I picked up leash walking in no time, and everyone agrees that with time and patience, I’ll be a superstar in the obedience department as well! At 1 year old, I’m practically a clean slate just here waiting for you!

There are some dogs that love “canine socializing” just fine, and others that prefer the company of humans to the four-legged kind, and I’d be the latter! I lived with my older mom and dad for two years, but when he had a stroke, mom just wasn’t up to caring for him in addition to giving me the attention and exercise I needed. I got along famously with the grandkids, and loved to play ball and “tug the sock,” so I just know there’s an active family out there for me that enjoys going for long walks (or hikes in the desert — woo woo!), and having a buddy keeping them company ‘round the clock. I’m a striking black and tan shepherd/heeler mix lady who is just ripe for sharing your world!

“She’s extremely friendly and ridiculously cute! She is very well behaved, seeks to be petted, and responds well to instruction.” That’s what my mom’s son said about me when he very sadly had to bring me to TALGV. Mom passed away a while ago, and the family couldn’t keep me, but since I’m such a sweetie, they just knew that it wouldn’t be hard for me to convince another family that I should be an integral part of their lives! I’m a happy, gentle, 7-year-old, Australian shepherd mix lady who has lived with another dog, know basic commands, and will undoubtedly be the light of your life. If you’ve ever owned (or been owned by!) an Aussie, you’ll know what you’re in for — total head-over-heels adoration!

Dreidl comes with TALGV’s FREE Vet Care for Life.
If you’re looking for a “true” rescue story, then lend an ear to the tale I have to tell about my two friends Candy, Claus, and me because we’re shining examples of what a difference a little (well, a LOT!) of attention, care, and good food can make! We were rescued on Sahuarita Road when a Good Samaritan stopped, opened his car door and we all gratefully piled in. We each had serious cases of mange, were undernourished, frightened, and were in urgent need of care. Well, that was before Christmas, and after many weeks of that loving care, we’re all turning into gentle, laid back dogs who want nothing more in life than safe loving homes where we can strut our new stuff! Oh, and we come with TALGV’s Free Vet Care for Life, too!
Arrived December 20, 2014.

Hi… my name is Kiddo.
Adopted March 28, 2015
I think people sometimes forget how active young puppies can be! My mom adopted me when I was a cuddly 8-week-old and has been taking really great care of me since. I got along great with her Chihuahua (although I was considerably bigger and a lot more exuberant than he was), but mom said that I had no problem behavior, just “too much energy” for someone her age. I’ve learned quite a few commands (sit, down, stay, and walk) and am a loving, smart girl. I’m learning to catch a Frisbee (I’ll fetch anything actually!), and am a “wonderful, willing dog who will learn everything for a treat.” I’m a young German shepherd/Staffie mix girl looking for an active family that will give me all the exercise and love it can dish out!
Arrived January 28, 2015.
