I’ve been thriving in a foster home and while I may be shy at first, when I think my foster dad isn’t watching, my playful side absolutely comes out. I love short walks, backyard time, and food puzzles that let me show off my clever nose and paws. Poppy

Hi… my name is Poppy (aka Stevie),

Since arriving at TALGV I’ve acquired many new friends, including my roommate. I can be shy, but I usually warm up pretty fast. My trainer, who thinks I’m a “wonderful dog,” took me home to see how well I behave. I think I did great! I know the meaning of commands: sit, lay down, stay, come, leave it, no and off (furniture). Once you adopt me, you can set (and enforce) your own house rules. I’m strong and may occasionally pull, but I walk well on leash. I sleep all night in a crate, enjoy playing with toys, and am familiar with doggy doors. I’m house broken, but until you learn my “tell” you’ll need to put me out regularly. Confidentially, when you take me home, I might show YOU my ”tell.” (10/2022)

NOTE: Stevie has been social, tolerant, and playful when meeting other dogs in TALGV’s playgroup. She would like to meet any resident dogs before adoption to your home.

The thing about puppies: They grow up. Maybe I’m biased, but the best puppies grow up to be big dogs! Unfortunately, that seemed to backfire on me because, through no fault of my own, I grew too big for my family to handle. I’m not sure what that means because I will happily show you how polite and well-mannered I am. I love going on long, leisurely walks where we can enjoy the sights, sounds, and sniffs – the last one is mostly for me – LOL! I’m house-trained (obviously), and I yearn to be near people. I’d love to become a member of your family. Please stop by and meet me; references will be furnished upon request! The thing about big dogs: We always find a way to fit into your heart.

Hi… my name is Fern,

It’s hard to be humble when you’re as wonderful as me! I’m equal parts cuddle bug and adventure buddy. I love belly rubs, neck scratches, and couch time just as much as running trails or chasing lizards. I’m housetrained (with a dog door), sleep quietly in my crate all night, and have great manners at mealtime. I know several commands, take treats gently, and ride beautifully in the car. I do pull on leash when I see dogs or bikes, but I’m smart and treat-motivated—just need a bit more practice! I don’t chew furniture, though stuffed animals might mysteriously disappear. I’m fine with older kids and some dogs, but I’d prefer not to share my toys. I’m happiest with daily exercise, love, and laughter—and someone who’ll appreciate both my zoomies and my Zen side.
