T-Rex

Hi… my name is T-Rex,

Every dog is unique, but I’m a little “uniquer.” Okay, maybe not uniquer (since there’s no such thing) but special—big ears, short legs, and my own friendly, lovable personality. Plus, even with the extra pounds I’m carrying around (and working on losing), I’m a pretty dapper little guy in my tuxedo black and white coat. I came here when my former people moved to a place where dogs aren’t allowed. We’d been together for five years and they reported that I was housetrained, leash-trained (the volunteers here agree), okay with cats (!), gentle and tolerant with a 15-year-old human. And if you look into my eyes, you’ll see that I’m deeply interested in you—hoping that we can be fast friends. I know you’re special, too, so we could be very good together.

I am smiling brightly despite an unfortunate family change. In my former home, I got along with the cat as well as the dog. I used to play with young children up to 12 years old, but although play times were fun, my big baby personality was too rough for the kids. I have found many great volunteer friends here at The Animal League who don’t hesitate to train me at 3 1/2 years old, because I still enjoy learning new tricks. Not only do I love lap snuggling, but I always love car rides. Shining my bright smiley Staffordshire Terrier face to the world through that car window with you would be a dream come true.

I believe people and dogs go together. Like burgers and fries or cookies and milk. So when I was lost, I spotted a kind person and followed her home. Turned out, that was the right thing to do because she brought me here! For a young guy (born in late 2017), I’d known some tough times—the intake people found some scabs—but I was good in the car, pretty good on the leash, calm and mellow on exam, and already know a couple of commands. Most of all, I really want to belong to someone. You know—be someone’s pal, companion, forever friend; the dog you can count on. I’m slender, about 55 pounds, and gentle taking treats (hint-hint), so let’s meet and greet, and see if we’ll be happy together ever after!

I’m so happy and lively, exuberant could be my middle name! Or joyful, or friendly—I’ll let you choose! My former owner had to give me up due to her own health issue, but had good things to share about me. For instance, she found me to be good with adults and children (gentle and tolerant with an 11-year-old at home); and I’ve loved meeting new people! She described me as loyal and protective, too; at home, the commands I knew well were “sit, settle, heel and stay.” I was good in the house when alone (had a doggie door), and, of course, I love playing with my toys. Born in December 2017, I’m a sweet, strong, high-spirited female who needs one thing to be happy forever: a loving home with you!
