Hi… my name is Chiquito,

Adopted 2-19-17

I arrived at TALGV with some things I really didn’t want: cactus spines in my nose and mouth! After my sister, Lola, and I were adopted, our new people moved to the country and that’s apparently where I found the cactus. They loved us, but said we kept getting out and so in our next home we’re going to need either close supervision or a dog-proof fence! Sis and I are Staffie/Chihuahua mixes (that’s what they say!), and we’re good for each other; she’s a little shy and I’m strong in the moral support area. I also love to play with squeaky toys, and know basic commands like “sit, stay, and potty,” (though not all at once!). Won’t you please come visit and let me show you how great we could be together!

Hi… my name is Jojo,

Adopted 10-22-16

You could say my middle name is “loyalty,” because that’s my strong suit. Indeed, when asked about my good qualities, the first thing my person said was that I’m “very loyal.” He was loyal to me, too; when he lost his job and couldn’t take care of me anymore—although sad to let me go after our 4 years together—he brought me here for the chance at a new home. He said I got along with his cat, but didn’t care for men (although my person is a man). I’m currently in foster care, so please call ahead and we’ll set up a date to meet. Just ask for the handsome 5-year-old male with the sleek black coat and remarkable ears, who’s been dreaming of being in a happy forever home with you!

Arrived 7-26-16.

Hi… my name is Precious,

Adopted August 31, 2016

My name, Precious, tells you what I dream of being to someone wonderful. My previous person gave me to a stranger in a parking lot because he couldn’t take care of me anymore. He said neighbors had been feeding me, but they wouldn’t do that much longer and so I needed a new place. My hopes are high that it will be the most special kind of place—a home full of love, where I’ll fit right in. The volunteers say that wish will come true because I’m a really sweet dog, eager to please and easy to love. At 2 years old, with a soft chocolate-brown coat and just under 50 pounds, I’m a young, fun-loving female, who’ll gladly answer to any name you choose as long as you call me yours forever!

Hi… my name is Anna,

Adopted August 14, 2016

When I was found with Elsa, my sweet friend (possibly sister), all we had was each other. We were soaking wet and dehydrated. Our finder took us to their small ranch, where they kindly fed us, took care of us, and discovered my many good qualities. I’m “extremely smart and learn fast,” they said, “a very sweet dog who will love you forever,” and knows lots of commands (like “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “no”). I was “gentle and tolerant” with their children and got along with most of the other animals—horses, dogs, cattle—but didn’t do well with the family cat and, in fairness, the cat was there first. So now I’m here, a sweet, loving, playful 2-year-old American Bulldog/Staffie mix female, who’ll be happy forever if you let me be your best friend.

Tux

Hi… my name is Tux,

Adopted July 6, 2016

I’m just a young pup, so eager to be loved, but nobody wanted me. In the nick of time, a wonderful lady rescued me from a terrible fate and brought me to TALGV. One of my hips had been injured, so my new friends here are taking care of that, plus they’re agreeing with what my rescuer said about me–I’m very loving, intelligent and a really fast learner! At 5 months, I know “sit, stay, and fetch,” am leash trained, and was well behaved with my rescuer’s family. Fun things I’d love to share with you include walks, playing with balls, and hugs. I’m a Lab/Staffie mix male, 32 pounds, black with a white star on my chest, and your love could turn my world around. Are you the one who’ll want me forever?

Hi… my name is Gunter,

Adopted July 19, 2016

I bet you can tell just by looking at me that I’d be so happy to find a forever friend. Maybe that’s what I was trying to do when my rescuer spotted me in her neighborhood. When she realized I was lost, she brought me to TALGV, where my search for a special someone (or maybe someones) continues. The volunteers tell me my day will come because I’m real cute—from my happy grin to my attention-getting ears (always a fun topic of conversation!)—and, most importantly, because I’m especially sweet, something that comes naturally to me and people really like. I’m a 1-year-old Staffie mix male, mainly gray with white markings, about 49 pounds, and full of hope that you’ll say I can be yours. Won’t you please let me love you forever!

Hi… my name is Gilroy,

Adopted 8-13-17

Gilroy has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I was a TALGV baby! My nine siblings and I were born here on 7/26/15. (Yes, mom was amazing!) We were each adopted, but then things changed for my new family and they didn’t have time for me. They said I was a great dog, gentle with the kids, but they wanted me to have the attention a dog deserves. If that means someone who’ll play with me, love me, and cuddle on a regular basis, I say that sounds like pure happiness! I’ve been getting ready—recently earning my AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate, which means I’m a star in the behavior department! I’m a black and white male with some speckles, 70+ pounds—every ounce adorable—and I really want to be someone’s good and happy dog. Could you be the one?

Hi… my name is Kiki,

Adopted 10-21-17

Kiki has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

I came to TALGV “highly recommended.” My former people—who loved me but had to give me up due to a serious illness in the family—described me as super smart, playful, and loving. I’m a beautiful 5-1/2-year-old black and white female, about 55 pounds, and once I warm up to new people, I thrive on praise and affection. As far as behavior in general, I proved my personal excellence by earning my AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate—a gold standard in the dog world. And for fun, I love playing in water, car rides, and quiet times, too—happy just hanging out with my special someone(s). I can’t tell you how much I’d love to have a home again and if that could be with you, I’ll give you all my love forever!

Hi… my name is Peaches,

Adopted 12-31-16

Peaches has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Back when I was lost, I’d wait until nighttime, then crawl up on a cushioned wicker chair in a stranger’s atrium and sleep there. I thought I was without a friend, but that wasn’t so. Soon, some kind people came for me and brought me here, where I’m safe, comfy, and everyone likes me! They say my name suits me because I’m so sweet-natured, and they praise me for being calm and gentle. I can be bashful, but I’m also good with most people because I love their company. Maybe you’ll like being with me, too. How about we meet today and find out! I’m a soft-coated brown and white Staffie mix female, a little over 1 year old and about 57 pounds. There are lots of happy years ahead—let’s spend them together!

Hi… my name is Guero,

Adopted 11-14-16

Guero has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

When my family split up, moved and couldn’t take me, I was heartbroken. In my way, I shed doggie tears about that and was actually shaking when I arrived at TALGV. But that was then. Today, I’m back to being the real me: Loveable and loyal, playful but calm, and a true champ of good behavior. In fact, I’ve been awarded the coveted AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate because I perform so well on some important behavior challenges. (Yes, this includes minding commands like sit, down, stay, heel, and lots more.) I’ve made good friends here—people and dogs—but I’m the kind of guy who really needs to belong to somebody. A nice medium size, I’d fit well in many households and in all hearts—including yours. How about we become family today!
