MAX is a friendly, sweet, and obedient 10-year-old, 36-pound, Whippet male that needs a new home. His female companion Whippet died last Fall and his senior owners died recently. He is great on a leash, is house trained (asks to go out), and likes to use a doggy door. He is neutered, in good health, and up to date on shots. He has gotten along with children over age 9 and female dogs, but he really dislikes cats. The ideal home for Max would be with another whippet, a yard, and a doggy door. He is a loving and loyal companion that needs someone who is mostly at home. There is no adoption fee. BUDDY is a friendly and social 3½ -year-old, 18-pound, small Whippet mix male who needs a new home. Adopter believes Buddy would be happier with someone who is used to small dogs. He is leash trained, obedience trained, and house trained (asks to go out). He is in good health, neutered, up to date on shots and medical records are available. Buddy is good with other small dogs and cats; he does not get along with other resident large dog. He likes running around at the dogpark and loves cuddling and sleeping close to you. Mandy

MANDY is a sweet 3-year-old, 22-pound Whippet/Beagle mix girl that needs a loving home. Foster who rescued her would like her to be with a family that has more time for her. Mandy is fully house/potty trained (asks to go out) and loves dogs and cats of all sizes especially little ones her size or smaller. She knows sit and come. She is spayed and takes medication for Valley Fever (she loves her pills inside Marshmallows – about $50 a month). She is leash trained – walks/runs on 1 front leg and the opposite back leg. The lame back leg was apparently fused at birth. Her front leg is due to the Valley Fever. Mandy can easily jump up and down off the couch. She can be left alone at home without any concern, and she likes a crate to use when she wants to rest. Mandy is an Angel… well behaved, loving and all around best snuggler ever! My former person said I needed a more active home, one with lots of room to run and play, and that sounds great to me! She also said I “ask” to go outside (no accidents since early puppyhood), and understand sit, come, stay, and down. I’m called very smart and independent, so even more training could be fun for me. But you should know that other dogs scare me, and I’ve never been with children. What do I know and like? That’s easy—rides, peanut butter, and the active life. When my family moved out of town, they couldn’t take me with them. But when the door closed between them and me, a window opened at TALGV. I look out that window now, hoping someone will come to meet me up close and personal. If you’re that someone, you’ll see that I’m quiet and calm, but am also very friendly and playful. If you like the toss-a-toy game, I’ll fetch and bring it back to you. I’m a 4-year-old female, a Whippet/Canaan Dog mix with a soft tan coat, weighing about 29 pounds on a slender frame. I know basic commands, how to walk on a leash, my family said I’m good with young people, and probably my best feature is knowing the importance of loving each other forever. My sister, Lisa, and I appeared one day in the yard of a home in Sahuarita Heights and stayed around to play with the resident Shih Tzu and the tribe of kids who lived there. The owners fed us outside while they tried to find our owner, but when that didn’t happen after two weeks, decided that we needed more “exposure” to potential adopters so we could find new homes. They said that we were beautiful, playful, happy youngsters who need a good-sized yard and lots of attention, play time, and someone with “puppy-patience.” They’re calling us Whippet mixes, but we have “Shar-Pei-like” ears, so who knows? I’m just a happy amalgam of something! All you need to know is that I’m cute, sweet, and, best of all, (since Lisa has been adopted) I am still available!
