Hi… my name is Cain,

Black Mouth Curs are known as working dogs, so a secure yard, and lots of exercise are at the top of my list. I’m crate trained and know the commands: “sit,” “come,” “stay,” “lay down,” “potty,” and several more. I’m a friendly, loyal, and smart boy who, when on a leash, needs a strong handler. I don’t like loud noises and thunderstorms, and anything that covers your eyes. I have gotten along well with children and other dogs. I can use the doggie door, but I need to learn not to mark my territory. I wasn’t getting along with the house cats, and that’s why I’m here now. It has been suggested that I should probably be an only (child) pet. When you meet me, please remember these adjectives: Loyal, protective, sensitive, fearless, kind, intelligent, and TRAINABLE.

My early life is a mystery. I appeared in a mobile home park and reconnoitered the surrounding area for a while before settling on a nice lady’s doorstep (and then being brought to TALGV). I developed my “people skills” here, so I’m friendly and well behaved and stay calm when there’s a lot going on. When the volunteers approach me, I purr and head-butt them so they’ll scratch my ears or brush my beautiful, super soft, light gray striped fur. I’m ready for a real indoor home now, so won’t you come meet me and let me show you how charming I am? At my young age I’d love to have some playtime with you!

We are all adorably friendly black kitties, but it’s taking me a bit longer than the others to get used to being in the shelter. I’m a bit shy and haven’t yet become friendly with other cats. l do like to be brushed and play with string toys, and I spend lots of time stretched out on the floor taking naps.
