“I love people!” I’ll cry out a friendly greeting, and go out of my way to meet “dog friendly” people on my walks. Don’t be surprised if I sit on your feet! I could use additional behavior training around other dogs and a strong outgoing handler. I’m a well-behaved eight-year-old that comes with Vet Care Support for Life. I’m very particular about where I sleep, so when I get a whim, or feel ignored, I’ll move my beds around. I’m potty trained, and I know sign language. Did I mention I’m deaf? Well, it seems that although I lived most of my life with my older dad and another cat, after I lost him, I’ve had real trouble adjusting to other cats, so it’s agreed that being the star of the show is the future I’m meant to have. Aside from that teeny “con,” I’m an affectionate, loving guy who likes petting and brushing, doesn’t mind being picked up and held, and love catnip and mice toys. I’m also quite handsome, they say (as are all Russian blues), so there’s that too if you care about looks! Other than being on a special diet, I’m in good shape and plan to spend all my time making you happy!

Also, I can be affectionate, but please, DON’T pick me up ‘cause it makes me feel insecure and I’ll do my best to get down! I lived with another cat, a dog, and three kids (maybe that’s part of the “anti-pickup” behavior), and got along with everyone, but my people decided that they had too many pets to give us all our deserved attention. I also missed the litterbox occasionally, but that could have been a distraction because of the hubbub, so I’m really eager to prove myself!

It’s always sad when pets lose their humans, but it’s even more so when they’ve lived pampered lives in super loving homes (you really get used to that kind of treatment, and return it tenfold!). Our dad adopted my housemate, and me from TALGV when we were youngsters, so he’s the only real family I’ve ever known. Despite what you might have heard about “tortitude” (a sometimes aloof demeanor some tortoiseshells are known for), I am very “into” people – especially petting, purring, and snuggling – and want to be the kind of companion you dream of. I’m a declawed senior and pretty settled in my ways so am looking forward to sharing many warm and tender times with another human of my own.
