I may have reached the age of retirement, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the good things in life, such as chasing lizards up trees. My previous owner relinquished me to a lady I have known all my life, but because she already has a full house (six other dogs), she brought me to TALGV to find a home where I can enjoy my senior years. I’m good around other dogs as well as chickens, (I don’t know about cats), plus I can herd goats. I love water and don’t mind taking baths. When my mom got sick, she was so happy when her friend agreed to take me in. Unfortunately after a few months her kids discovered that they were allergic to me, so I guess another (and hopefully, last) home is in my future. If you’re the kind of person whose heart goes pitter-pat over tabbies with the classic “mackerel” markings that define my breed, then I’m your girl! I’m quiet and sometimes shy, but I do enjoy playing with feather toys, having my head scratched, and just generally “hanging” with you. I’ve never lived with other pets, so maybe a quiet life with just the two of us would be the perfect fit.

I was dirty and all alone near Mission and McGee Ranch when I was rescued, bathed, and brought to TALGV. I have a “zest” for life; I’m happy meeting new people and enjoy going on occasional outings. I love riding safely secure in a car, with my nose in the air and a breeze in my face, watching the world fly by. I also enjoy my walks and pay close attention to my handler. I’m neutral around other dogs but get a bit antsy around groups of dogs, especially when they misbehave, so it may be best to avoid dog parks. I know the commands “sit,” “down,” and “wait,” and I’m eager to learn more. If you’re missing something in your life, why not add a little “zest” to it, namely ME!

So far, I’ve had an “interesting” life to say the least! I lived in a hoarding situation until I was rescued. Then I went to Petco so I could “strut my stuff,” but I was really unhappy there, so went to live with a foster mom until I could come here. She said my favorite things are being petted and brushed (my LEAST favorite thing is other cats), and you know that cute thing that dogs do when they stand on their hind legs and paw at the air – well, I do that too and believe me, it’s just as cute! Just come on by and check me out — you’ll definitely be impressed!

I’m making a return appearance at TALGV due to a change in family dynamics. I’m still handsome, intelligent, and energetic, and walk well on a leash. I need a secure yard with room to run and play, and my breed also needs a “job” or purpose. That said, I really love the game “fetch” and playing with toys. I will even drop them at your feet to include you in my playtime. I’m sociable and have gotten along with both children and other dogs. I’ve been sleeping in a crate at night but being confined in one, in a moving vehicle, makes me nauseous. I understand the commands “sit,” “down,” and “wait.” These also work well if I get excited and when food is involved. Please make an appointment to meet me. Bring the whole family!
