Hi… my name is Nutcracker,

Adopted with Walnut 9-3-21

I arrived at TALGV with Walnut who they think may be my dad, but he has sworn me to secrecy! I really like being petted and talked to and I am quite affectionate. I also take care of Walnut because he is kinda shy and usually waits for me to check things (and people) out before he trusts anyone. They say I need to learn to walk better on a leash because I stop a lot without much warning to the person walking me. For some reason people don’t like that. Maybe you can help me understand and do better? Like Walnut, I do get along well with other large dogs. I would like to find a home – and a person to cuddle with – but Walnut will need to come, too.

Hi… my name is Dulce,

Adopted 3-21-21

You know how they say that looks can be deceiving? Well, I am a strong, muscular bulldog and boxer mix girl who may look like a prize fighter but is actually more like a gentle giant and even a bit shy. That is why they named me Dulce, which is Spanish for sweet. Just look at my soulful eyes, and you’ll understand! I like car rides and going places, and I do like to run some times. I get along pretty well with other dogs, too. They say I walk nicely on a leash and don’t pull, and that I’m a sucker for ear scratches and belly rubs. I’m really just a couch potato whose favorite place is next to her favorite someone. Now I just have to find that special someone. Is that you?

Hi… my name is Panda,

Adopted 2-14-21

You’ll be able to picture the condition of my coat when I arrived when you learn that I’d been cruising the parking lot of an apartment complex for several weeks, as they sure aren’t the cleanest of places for a mostly white cat! Grey, greasy, and grimy pretty much describes it, but when the volunteers here have finished all their ministrations, whoa baby, I’m gonna be a looker (and a lover too – you can tell right away when I flop over for a good “going over”)! I’m a petite 1-year-old girl who is reveling in the attention I’m getting and ever so looking forward to continuing that custom in a nice safe home with you!

Hi… my name is Perdita,

Adopted 8-3-21

Comes with Vet Care Support for Life

Hello, I’m a beautiful, brindle, 10-year-old Staffie mix gal who comes with a lot of love and Vet Care Support for Life. I have plenty of energy, and I don’t let a little grey on my muzzle slow me down. I’m very good on a leash and enjoy going for walks. I’m crate trained, can use a doggie door or ask to go out, and I sit when requested. I love people, back scratches, treats and playing with balls. My foster parents noticed my big smile and cute ears. They said I settled in and quickly made myself right at home. Perdita means “lost” and that’s how I feel without a home. Please come and find me! All you have to do is come to TALGV. I’m waiting!

If you are considering adoption, please call TALGV office (520-625-3170) and make a date to meet me soon. Kennel appointments are between 10 and 2 every day.

Hi… my name is Abigail (aka Willow),

Adopted 2-20-21

Because I was found in the desert in Mexico and have a short, light brown coat, everyone thought I was a Chihuahua mix when I was a puppy. But I fooled them! I grew really, really long legs, much like a deer! I am a bit shy like that, too. I like to size up people before I make friends. For the past year I lived with very nice people. They taught me commands and how to tell humans when I need to go outside. They said I got along well with their cat and with other dogs I met. But they didn’t have much time for me and I would really like to be with someone who is around to play with me and take me out so I can run—like a deer!

Hi… my name is Lexus (aka Lexi),

Adopted 4-23-21

Forget the stereotype of an aloof cat – if you want a companion who wants to be with you day and night (especially in bed!), I’m your dream girl. My mom said I’m PLAYFUL and NEEDY (emphasis hers!) – I adore wand toys, playing fetch with balls with bells and slots to pick them up, and laser lights, but mostly I just want to be the number one in your life. I do have a medical condition, for which I’m being treated, but if you’re the nurturing type, the time you spend on that will pale in comparison to the love you’ll get in return. So c’mon, time’s a’wastin’ – scoot on over here and meet me!

Hi… my name is Kiki,

Adopted 3-8-21

“Kiki aggressive to cats; dogs aggressive to Kiki.” I’m guessing that probably wasn’t the best situation all around! Just like humans, some pets are loners and some are the life of the party, and it’s pretty obvious which category I fit into. After my mom died, her friend took me in, but since that didn’t work out too well, finding a palace befitting my queenly nature, where it’s just we two, would be simply heaven. I’m “sort of” settling into life here, but since it’s a shelter, it’s pretty much a given that I’ve got feline company I’m not mad about, so why not pay this year’s good deed forward by taking me home?

Ivy

Hi… my name is Ivy,

Adopted 11-9-22

COVID strikes again! When my dad lost his job due to the virus, he moved back in with his parents and unfortunately everyone was allergic to cats (they weren’t allergic to dogs though, and I got along great with them, large and small). I also lived with a 10-year-old and did well with him, but, as is typical of us cats, I let him know when enough was enough. I’ve managed to put on some weight in my four years, so maybe a bit of a diet regimen might be in order, but on the other hand, increasing my exercise by upping my playtime might do the trick too! Why not give it a shot?
