Every morning when I wake up, I think, “Is this the day my new owner is going to show up?” I always manage to sit right near the window to be sure I’m noticed, and although my plan hasn’t worked too well yet, I’ll keep trying! Before my mom died, I lived with my two siblings and adored them mightily, but fortunately for them (unfortunately for me!) they found homes of their own a while ago, so now it’s just little old me, hankering for a place of my own, too. I’m a sleek, velvety handsome-as-can-be Tuxedo boy who will love sleeping with you at night, so if you’re looking for a bed partner of the feline kind to purr sweet nothings in your ear, I’m your guy!

Chances are you can guess by my name and those of my siblings, Snap and Pop, that we were dubbed the “Rice Crispies Litter!” Like a lot of the summer crop of kittens, we were too young and too small to come to TALGV after we were found, so one of the awesome volunteers took us home to “fatten us up” and socialize us so we’d be the perfect size and have the perfect personalities to entice potential adopters. Well, it worked like a charm for my siblings, but I’m still waiting for that special someone to come through the door. I’m having tons of fun playing with my “kittens-in-arms,” but would way rather be doing that in a big, endlessly fascinating home of my own! I’ll bet your place would be just perfect!

When I went to live with my mom, I had a history of being mistreated. But she loved and pampered me, and turned my world around. We had a great life! I loved running and playing around the house and yard, going to the dog park, and being happy every day. Men still scared me and I didn’t like strangers at our house, but we knew we could work on that. Then, suddenly, she was gone. After her death, a friend brought me to this safe place, where people understand I need lots of reassurance right now. As the remaining kitten from the “Bird litter,” I’m here to tell you that you’re missing out on a heck of a good time watching me grow up! Our mom (“Birdie” of course!) raised us all in a shed for the first weeks of our lives, but since we had a human feeding and socializing us (thank you human!), we all turned out to be just as friendly and happy-go-lucky as any kitten raised indoors. I’m a classic tabby boy who promises to be the focal point of the day as you help me mature from a typical “into everything” kitten (one of the best parts of kittenhood!) into a lap cat/companion par excellence. When you hang around places where “animal people” are, you’re probably going to get lucky and find a softhearted person to take you in! Well, that’s what happened with me, when I appeared at the stables where my rescuer rides — she just couldn’t leave without me! Although she couldn’t keep me forever, she did have me for six weeks and said that I’m “the perfect love kitty” who purrs like a Ferrari (often just because you picked me up or because you looked at or talked to me!). She said that I’ll collapse against your leg or in your lap, and look in your eyes in a way that’ll totally melt your heart. As a 4-month-old kitten, you can be sure I’ll be happy playing with whatever’s around — and that always includes you!

I’m a friendly guy who really likes to be with people, so when my family had to leave me outside all the time because one of them was allergic to dogs, I was especially lonely. They were busy, too, and couldn’t spend much time with me, but said I was sweet and gentle anyway. The volunteers here at TALGV agree. They also call me a good sport—eager to play, attentive to my person on walks, and always happy to see my friends. I have a good-looking athletic build, weighing in at 40 pounds, and a distinctive white coat. At my young age, I still have things to learn, but already I know that life is best when shared. If you feel the same, let’s meet. I bet we could be great together!

Mickey

Given my basic sweetness, I know that it won’t take long for me to adjust to the sorrow of being relinquished by my dad after six years. Since I was apparently allowed outdoors (that’s a huge no-no for cats!), I’ve acquired a few issues that need treatment (which the cat care people and the vet got on right away), so once I’m better, I know that my old, playful and loving self will come to the fore. Although I’m not feeling tip-top at the moment, the volunteers say that when I’m being medicated, I “melt in their arms,” so you know that I’ve always been a lover at heart. I’m a delightful 6-year-old grey tabby boy who just needs time to recapture the joyful spirit that lives inside me.
