Animal League News

Hi… my name is Queenie,

What can I say? I have the salty taste of losing my home—twice! In my first home with my sister, we had it made with a man who said I was warm and friendly once I got to know you. Sadly, his fiancée was allergic to cats, so he brought us siblings to The Animal League. After my sister was adopted, I didn’t do too well adapting to other felines. My second home was short-lived due to my anxieties. Back here, I’m watching other cats play but keeping to myself. Perhaps my next home should let me be the royalty I was previously. No drama, just quiet care and safety.

Hi… my name is Chowder,

I was found in the Montana Vista area; I just showed up at my rescuer’s doorstep wanting to be loved. How did I become a stray? I can’t say, but I DO know that I didn’t like it! I want my own home again! I played with my rescuer’s dogs until her female dog attacked me. No, we couldn’t have that, so she brought me to The Animal League. I’m not sure about my future with dogs. I’m searching for ear scratches and all sorts of toys provided by my own human. Will that be you? I could be all cuddles and love with you if you’ll give me the chance. Please come meet me today!

Hi… my name is Lancelot,

This Lancelot is looking for his Camelot! And I don’t mean a legendary castle and court. I mean a real home with humans who understand my personality. Just like the human Arthurian knight, I was orphaned. A kindhearted rescuer brought me into The Animal League. A better life is what I’m hoping for. Until that time, I’m hiding safely up atop a perch where I can look out the window or snuggled in a corner. I’m hesitant to let volunteers pet me or play with me, but I see they do with other cats in my room. So maybe I’ll try it. Who knows? Maybe that will allow my brave, heroic nature to shine.

Hi… my name is Valentine,

I’ll admit, I’m a bit shy. It takes me time to warm up, but I’m learning the world can be a good place, and I’ve made some great friends with the volunteers. I enjoy short walks, playing outside, and solving food puzzles. Using my nose and paws to uncover hidden treats gives me a real sense of accomplishment!  I’ve also got a collection of stuffed toys in my crate, several acquired by being somewhat of a kleptomaniac. If something catches my eye, I’ll snatch it up! It’s just my way of feeling secure and cozy. If you’re the type who knows the best relationships take time, I’ll be here, enjoying my toys, solving puzzles, and keeping my secret stash of goodies safe.
With love to you (and a little mischief), Valentine

Hi… my name is Bella,

“Moving and can’t take her with me,” said my first human. I was happy for her children and dog that did move with her. Still, I needed my own home. I had one for a few months but didn’t get along with the other resident cat. I need to be your One and Only Pet. I will play with you, jump on your lap, and curl around for a good brushing of my furry body and plumed tail. I require attention. Being my feisty feline self, I will determine how much attention I desire. Are you okay with that? If so, we’re a match! Please come meet me.

Hi… my name is Riley,

Have you ever been lost and then found? Well, that’s my story. A kind person found me on their front patio. I was a stray. I knew I needed a home. Being brought to The Animal League saved my life. I do appreciate the volunteers’ caring for me. During my intake, I was proclaimed a “sweet cat!” I’m trying to regain that composure. After my arrival, I became very stressed so I’m getting extra calm treatment as I await my home. Surely, I had one previously since I’m a healthy, hefty young fellow. I need my fur-ever home with promise of shelter, safety, food, and most importantly LOVE! Am I describing your home? Please, let’s meet!

Hi… my name is Fern,

It’s hard to be humble when you’re as wonderful as me! I’m equal parts cuddle bug and adventure buddy. I love belly rubs, neck scratches, and couch time just as much as running trails or chasing lizards. I’m housetrained (with a dog door), sleep quietly in my crate all night, and have great manners at mealtime. I know several commands, take treats gently, and ride beautifully in the car. I do pull on leash when I see dogs or bikes, but I’m smart and treat-motivated—just need a bit more practice! I don’t chew furniture, though stuffed animals might mysteriously disappear. I’m fine with older kids and some dogs, but I’d prefer not to share my toys. I’m happiest with daily exercise, love, and laughter—and someone who’ll appreciate both my zoomies and my Zen side.                                                                             (bio updated 10-31-25)

Hi… my name is Baby Girl,

Baby Girl has earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Why choose between playful energy and snuggly sidekick? You can have both! With my soft brindle coat and soulful eyes, I’m a head-turner, but much more than just good looks. I’m a Canine Good Citizen, which means I’m polite, smart, and well-mannered. I’m the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—I love outings, dipping my paws in the pool, and exploring, but I’m just as happy lounging in the sunshine or curled up on the couch. Belly rubs? Yes, please! Most of all, I want to be close to my person. I’d prefer to be your one and only furry companion, so I can give you all my love and soak up yours. The folks at TALGV say I’m a gentle, sweet soul waiting for the right match. Could that be you? Let’s begin our happily-ever-after today!                                                                                   (bio revised 8-2025)

Hi… my name is Viper,

Life upheaval: new baby in the house. Our humans weren’t sure how my best feline friend, Baxter, and I would interact with the little one, so they brought us to The Animal League where we await our new home.  I’m not sure why I have my name because I’m certainly not venomous! I’m a healthy, young girl with lovely black and white tabby markings. I’m shy. Currently my coping strategy is to nestle in a cat tree cubby observing my new surroundings. I’m waiting to venture forth to play with toys and receive petting from the volunteers. Until then, they are gently talking to me, assuring me that I will find my new home. Perhaps with you?

Hi… my name is Yeti,

No worries about stepping on my tail because I don’t have one! I’m a Bobtail Cat. I’m a petite beauty who loves to play with feathered wands and balls. I even know how to play “fetch!” For two years I lived with a couple and their dogs. My humans said I was nervous around strangers and played rough with children. In my second home, I was the same way.  When excited, I tend to nip so I need my calm person(s) to redirect my energy. Are you the one?  I like to sleep in my own cat tree. That is where you may find me at The Animal League. Please come meet me!  (7-2024)

Hi… my name is Daisy,

If life were a movie, I’d be the lovable sidekick who auditions for the lead but doesn’t get the part. So many adopters pass by my kennel…. and then pick another dog. I’m a calm, soulful girl who adores humans. I once had a doggie roommate, but I prefer people—I connect better with them. I walk nicely on a leash, though sometimes I’d rather pause, smell the roses, and watch the world go by. I’m hoping someone will finally see me. I was found abandoned in the desert and brought to TALGV where I’ve blossomed — with love from my volunteer friends. My goal is a lead role in a loving home. I’m ready to be someone’s star. My big break is still out there. Maybe you can cast me in the story of your life?

I will bring lots of joy and laughter and be a great walking buddy.  Most of all, I will give you lots of love and devotion. Could you handle all this awesomeness in your life?
