Hi… my name is Marie,

Adopted 8-17-18

“To Whom it May Concern: Marie came to me about two months ago – dirty, pregnant, and starved. She is a very sweet girl, and I wanted to keep her, but I have asthma. Please find her a good, loving home because she had that here and she deserves it. She gets along with dogs, holds her paw up to shake your hand, loves her head rubbed, and to lie in bed. This breaks my heart and hers, so I pray she’ll find a good home and never have to be alone and unloved again.” Well, I can’t add more than that except won’t you make my rescuer happy and take this 14-month-old lover home?

Hi… my name is Sadie,

Adopted 7-27-18

“Given up for no fault of her own.” My former people said that about me, explaining that their 2-year-old had developed severe allergies to the cat and me. She also wrote, “We love them both so much,” so that was nice to know. I’m a 4-year-old Lab mix female, almost 50 pounds; fun, loving and happy. I’m leash-trained, know lots of commands—sit, stay, leave it, down, kennel—and love to play fetch! With children, I’ve been described as gentle and tolerant, but also as playing roughly—too much so for very small children (I can be “pretty bouncy”). Here at TALGV, I peacefully share my run with another dog. And if I were with you, my role would be to add love and fun to your life. Will you give me that chance?

Hi… my name is Midnight,

Adopted 10-14-18

As an 8-month-old Lab female myself, I suggest that a day in every pup’s life should include three things: Love, fun, and learning. (Also the essentials, of course, of food, water, shelter, and, as any pup will tell you, toys and playtime.) For me, love comes naturally. Asked to describe me, my friends usually start with the word “loving.” As for learning, I’ve been taught commands like sit, stay, shake, and more. I’m still training on inside versus outside, but with help, I’m learning that, too. And as for fun, I’ve gotten along with large and small dogs, thoroughly enjoy being active, and get a kick out of squeaky toys. But most of all, I need that happy place called home, where we give and get love every day. Could it be with you?

Hi… my name is Rochelle,

Adopted 7-26-18

Dogs like me, a 3-year-old German Shepherd female, have been called “a dog lover’s delight”—an encouraging thought in a year that’s sometimes been topsy-turvy. First, I was brought here with my canine buddy Lucas because our person developed serious health concerns. Then, after we’d been happily adopted again, our new people had landlord issues and couldn’t keep us. We were all sad, having quickly grown to love each other very much. Indeed, “very loving” was one way they described me, along with reporting I was gentle and tolerant with kids ages 7 through 18, leash-trained, and used the doggie door. These days, you can understand why a stable, loving home will mean so much to me, and if that can be with you, I’ll gladly be the happy dog by your side forever.

Comes with Free Vet Care for Life

Losing your best friend can be traumatic for people AND cats! After my dad died, mom moved to a place that didn’t allow pets, so it’s taking me time to adjust to my new circumstances. Mom said that I like to be around people and have “the best personality I’ve ever seen in a cat – so gentle and tolerant.” She said I sleep a lot during the day (that’s a cat thing!), but play with toys at night, love to get into cabinet spaces (I can open them by myself!), and just BE with you! I’m a 13-year-old, declawed lady (with free vet care) who promises to bring that wonderful “extra-special something” to your life!

Hi… my name is Mason (aka Marty),

Adopted 3-29-20

Has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate.

Back when I was a really young pup, my person said she couldn’t socialize me because it was too hot for walks. Granted, some Arizona days are best spent somewhere cool, but we all need socialization, right? So, being here has helped me a lot. I’ve attended class with people and other dogs, and have impressed friends with my good behavior there. Oh, I’m still young, strong, and learning, but already walk nicely on a leash, obey basic commands, have been gentle taking treats, and can be very active at times, calm at others. (In my former home, I was also housetrained and used a doggie door.) Training, patience and love equal a winning combination so far, and if you let me be your loyal companion, we could share lots of happy trails together!

Adopted 11-15-18

BREE is a beautiful, energetic, and affectionate, 5-year-old, 60-pound hound mix that was adopted as a puppy, but he needs a new home as owner’s new job will not allow time for his care. Bree is neutered and shots are up to date; he has recently been diagnosed with Valley Fever, but with ongoing treatment there is no physical evidence of it (medical records available). He loves people, is obedience trained, and usually has excellent manners (knows sit, stay, shake, come, lay down). He is housebroken and asks to go out; he would be best as an only dog (no cats, please), walks well on leash, and loves to run. He is good with children of all ages.

There is no adoption fee for this special guy. If you would welcome Bree into a loving home as part of your family, please call Nate between 1 and 8 PM at 619-381-2790.

Van

Hi… my name is Van,

Adopted 7-23-18

Life just isn’t fair! I arrived at TALGV just when what seemed like a whole truckload of fluffy, adorable, nothing-cuter-than-kittens arrived, and being just a smidge older (and black to boot!), everyone was oohing and aahing over THEM and overlooked ME! Well, I’m here to say that they missed out on one sweet, mega-purr boy, but you’ve still got your chance! I was found in the desert fending for myself, but hoping to find a Good Samaritan to save me. It worked then, and I’m hopeful it’ll work now, so just a few minutes with me (and my friend in the same boat, Moony) will convince you that teenagers are “where it’s at!”

Hi… my name is Sergio,

Adopted 7-8-18

Friends here call me a “Chiweenie”—combination Chihuahua and Dachshund. Right now, I’m a teeny Chiweenie—under 4 pounds at 7 weeks, making me a very little guy in this big wide world. I was found running down a road in Sahuarita, and came here still feeling quite scared. So I just quietly curled up on my comfy blanket, hoping everything would be okay. And you know what? Everything is better than okay! People have been so kind—complimenting my beautiful black coat, adorable face, and sweet disposition. We cuddle a lot, which makes me feel safe, and pretty soon I’ll be ready to play, too. And so I’m wondering—could I have what they call a “forever home” with someone who could love and teach a puppy like me? Could that be you?

Hi… my name is Sheba (aka Angel),

Adopted 7-31-18

“A loving, affectionate, loyal little dog.” That’s how a friend described me, although at 39 pounds, you might call me medium-small size. I’ve also been called very, very intelligent, well behaved and eager to please, as well as “back-side sensitive,” which might be due to the BBs removed from my backside (someone apparently shot at me). My life hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve remained very sweet natured and loving. Pleasingly calm, too, although I’m “dog selective,” which means I like some but not all other dogs. As for people, well, I absolutely LOVE being with people! Fortunately, many of them love me, too. Maybe that could include you! Just shy of 6 years old, I know I could have a very good life for a good long time, if you make me yours.
