I’d just stepped out of the desert near I-19 and Sahuarita Road, coming from a lonely place, when I spotted a man offering me a ride! Well, I know a good thing when I see it and so I jumped in that car, unafraid. My new friend kindly relieved me of some cactus needles and brought me here, where volunteers described me as a very sweet guy from the very beginning—offering friendship in my own gentle way. I’m about 2 years old, 59 pounds, and some kind of Hound—I hope you say the handsome, loveable kind. I know several commands and I’m “tuned in” to people. I’d love a visit from you, and just maybe, on my luckiest of days, you’ll enjoy being with me so much that we’ll go home together.

There may be a fascinating tale about how Bonnie and I ended up on the side of the road (Duval Mine Road), but our headline news is that we were rescued! I’m a 1-year-old Husky/Heeler mix male, black and white, with 1 blue eye and one brown, and you’ll quickly notice that I’m a three-legged dog. How that came to be we don’t know; maybe that’s how I was born. In any event, I get along fine in my own way, and I’m a happy, friendly guy, who’s grateful for Bonnie. She cared for me when I had no one else in the world, and we’d love to stay together. We know it will take someone special to adopt us both, but it could happen. Indeed, someone that wonderful could be as close as you!

Don’t let anyone tell you that long black hair and gorgeous golden eyes aren’t a knockout combination! After my mom’s allergies got really severe, it was time for me to move on. She said that I love to play with balls of foil, to drink from the water faucet, and sit by the window watching the world go by. She said I’m very smart, can open doors, love to be petted, and even be carried like a baby (for a while!). I’m a real jumper and will follow a laser beam (or invisible spiders!) up the wall. There ought to be a better description of my unique coat than “black and white,” because it’s a rare white-ticked black that looks just like Christmas tree frosting! And, of course, to go with that, there’s my sparkling personality, too! My dad moved out of the state and couldn’t take my blind canine housemate, Dudley, or me with him, so we’re both seniors looking for special new people. I’m a declawed gentleman, who is FeLV-positive, which means that I need to either live with another FeLV cat (we have several here!), or be your one and only (hey, that actually sounds pretty good to me!). I also come with Free Vet Care for Life, so won’t you do your good deed for the year and “pay if forward” by taking me home?Charlie is FeLV Positive and comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

Things were great at home until my people realized how much they wanted to travel and how often they’d be boarding me to do that, leaving me sad and lonely. So a new home is best, a place to give and get lots of people attention—which I love! At home, I was crate-trained, gentle and tolerant with kids ages 8 and older, and “asked” to go outside. Here at TALGV, my trainer says I’ve come a long way in learning to be nonreactive to other dogs, I’m treat-motivated, love belly rubs and my chew toy, and would be best with someone who gives me direction in a positive manner because I’m still a puppy at heart! She also said I’m one in a million—adorable and smart—and all I want to be is yours! (Bio revised 8/6/18)
